We've released a second beta of Onlink v0.1.1. This version has only a couple corrections which allow the programs to run. The problems everyone experienced were because of the Windows Vista SDK screwing things up.

Anyway, here it is on BitTorrent. We suggest you use Azureus to download this and seed for a while.

Thanks everyone, let us know of any bugs you find!

Yay, and please don't recommend Azureus, very inefficient and not very well optimized, uTorrent is the best.

Oh, like you know. :x

But seriously, Azureus downloads the fastest of any I've seen, and has the advantage of trackerless (decentralized) peer discovery. It also has a tracker built in. I hate Java as much as any C++ programmer should, really, but Azureus is an example of a Java program written by someone who knew what they were doing and did it well. :)

Never runs fast for me, I download at highest I've seen on utorrent at about 125 kb/s, Azureus never goes above 90 kb/s.
But the plugins is whats awesome.

And uTorrent can run trackerless, (retrieve peer list from other peers)

I run uTorrent on linux (wine). Azureus consumes all my resources, it's like either use azureus or do other things.

I've never experienced this problem. I've tried a wide variety of BitTorrent clients, and Azureus has been the best I've used.

But really, it's user preference. Java sucks, yes, but this is one implementation where CPU power isn't critical, it's primarily data transfer over a network, and that's mainly a hardware limitation (i.e. 256K users can only get so much per second, and Java can process it fast enough).

I also thing the complete cross-platform capability of Azureus is fantastic. Yeah, that can be attributed to Java, but μTorrent can't really claim to be cross-platform except via wine, Parallels or some other emulation layer. And emulation layers -always- suck, unless you use processor virtualization extensions (but I haven't even tested the VMX stuff yet, so I am not 100% sure this is even an exception to the rule).

Anyway, ?Torrent may be right for you, but I personally prefer Azureus. 8)

Umm, why did the forum theme change 3 times in a row?
I saw a flash of the original forum theme, I miss that theme.

I found out old themes are available. Nifty. See the poll in 'General'.

Just for the torrent argument's sake, I use Azureus on both Windows XP Home SP2 and Gentoo Linux. Yes it requires more setting up than uTorrent to work well, but that is because it can do so much more. I can run WoW and Azureus at the same time (in both Windows and Linux using Cedega) with no lag. There's this thing called throttling that you can apply to up and down speeds, and limiting the number of total and simultaneous connections.

Anyway, HTTP mirror up at http://dysplace.net/files/OnlinkPatch-0.1.1b2.exe

Yay for a discussion of torrent clients...

uTorrent > Azureus in my book, so far all the features that have been mentioned for Azureus (trackerless peer discovery, throttling) are in uTorrent, plus uTorrent doesn't drain resources near as badly as Azureus.

For compatibility Azureus may have an edge, but I believe uTorrent is releasing (has released?) a Linux build. I don't know whether they're planning Mac release or not.

On Topic: Yay for b2! Can't wait to play it ^^

Changing the subject slightly back to the latest offering of Onlink, I've found a bug in this new version. I've just been given a 'change a grade' mission where the individual was "PLAYER". Obviously, that name doesn't exist so tried to search for my own name. Changed my grade and replied to the email and then crashed to desktop. Anybody else had that problem? If you need any further info sending, let me know what you need and I'll get it for you.

Just got back from Michigan's Adventures, and I even rode the biggest wooden roller coaster in America. (It was also my first roller coaster, so if I can handle that, I could handle anything else in that park.

Darknight, I sent you an email about sending me the beta via email, after I get it I'll put it up on my FTP site so everyone can get to it.

As far as torrent clients go, I used uTorrent for a long time, but then I switched to Azureus Vuze later. I like it's interface.
