Onlink v0.1.1 Beta 1 is now available on BitTorrent

Changes:

+ Compiled with a CrissCross core ( http://www.uplinklabs.net/crisscross )
+ New VDPIN price
+ Hardware price fixes
+ Added layer of bank security
+ Two new special missions
+ Agents have real names that match records
+ auto-upgrading security measures
+ auxiliary gateways (stop asking me for its use; it's for backup. use the server. really.)
+ remote routers
+ a few more in-house alterations for future use
- Telephone Database
- Certain Crash Recovery Routines

I should also mention, old easter eggs hold new secrets.

Good luck on finding them :)

EDIT: I should also mention that I may be gone for a while, it depends how desperately I'm needed. The bridge collapse you've been hearing on the news lately is pretty much in my back yard and I'm going to help with the cleanup effort. Hopefully, it won't be too long.

It means that your Uplink install is invalid. What size world.dat file do you have?

OK, seems like the right size. Can you do an MD5 sum of it? Download the program from that page, run it, click the 'Generate Checksums' option button, and then click and drag your world.dat into that window. Once done, click on the world.dat in that window with the MD5 hash next to it, click "To Clipboard" and paste it back here.

If your sum matches mine, something else is wrong, and we'll get it figured out.

Okay, send me a PM with your Skype name or MSN address. We'll work on this one on one.

I installed the mod successfully, but both of the new EXE files give me this error in a dialog window as soon as I try to run it:

C:\Program Files\Strategy First\Uplink\Onlink-x86.exe
This application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem.

I've never gotten this error on a program before. Does anyone else get this?

I'm aware of this sort of problem. I'm surprised it cropped up though, because the installer contains all of the runtimes necessary. I'm looking into it now.

I ran File Monitor on it, it looks like the EXE is searching for some sort of information stored within a file (some things it's searching for looks like a GUID)
It also attempted opening a .manifest and a .config file (with the EXE name prepended)...? Seems like a Visual Studio specific thing.

The problem is that it's looking for the wrong runtime. I am working on rebuilding it now and possibly release a 0.1.0b2 this afternoon.

Do you have a Skype or MSN so we can work on this one on one?
