I dunno, I like this idea. It'd add a sort of exploration angle to the game. Servers should be added that are not linked from anywhere - people's PCs, hidden modems that link to LANs, all sorts of hidden gems. Wardialing should be pretty slow though (ping, wait one in-game second for timeout, record if ping responds, next IP - all done over 10 threads). It'd mean that you would spend a very long time trying to find all of the hidden machines. From 10.0.0.0 to 255.255.255.255: 245 * 255 * 255 * 255 = 4062436875 seconds. 4062436875 / 60 / 60 / 24 / 365 = 128 years. 100 threads -> 128/10 = 1.28 years 1.28 * 365 = 460 in-game days. |

I think this should be a way we could generate IP and put some random software on it, and if you get that software early your in luck |
