There should be an extra slot on the AM-Core for a modem because it is a file server, and I also noticed the modem speed doesn't really do much? |

I agree about modem speeds not doing much. When the file size in game never really comes close to anything more than, say, 15Gq, and the base modem is already 1Gq/s, you'll usually have enough bounce points so that you can spare 15 seconds or so to download a file. To sum up, either modem speeds should vary more, with a lower starting modem speed; or file sizes should be increased. |

I say modem speed should start at a quarter of a GQ a 256 MQ |

THe problem with the latter is that the memory max on gateways would need to be increased to accomodate for larger file sizes.-- Griffinhart |

That is true but it forces people to upgrade more and gives more smaller steps toward a ultra-gateway, think about it this way, if we take a GQ as 1 Gib then we would have highest sane amount of data space would be 2500 Gib, but what we are doing ingame is building a supercomputer, they would usually have data space of over 1000 TB. This does not mean we need more slots for memory, it just means we need larger sticks ranging from 1 , 2 ,4 ,8 ,16 , 32 , 64 , 128 sticks This would mean the default gateway would hold much more data, so file sizes will go up. Modem speeds should remain the same as it should be 10 GQ per second MAX and actually use the Modem max DL speed and not CPU speed. |
