I just got a cool idea.
When call someone, even the manager of a big company, he answers the phone... always. It doesn't matter if it's nighttime, daytime, and sometimes it doesn't even matter if he's jailed (I think this may have been worked out already). Well... You already know where i'm going. Why shouldn't these guys have secretaries? During the work hours the secretaries would anser the phone and tell you that Mr. XXXXX XXXX is on a meeting... (As ALWAYS happens in real life) and then ask you if he's expecting your call. If he is, she will give the call to him. Of course, he won't be... so...
1) Hacking that guys computer is a must. Change the schedule and then "Send to secretary" or something.
2) Using the LAN feature. After accesing his pc, you could acces the secretary pc through the lan and change the schedule there.
3) The other way i thought it would be cool to get him to answer your calls, is making him have NO secretary again. How? Sending his company almost to bankrupcy, so he can't afford the girl.

And if we get the secretary feature, it would be also great to have a chance to play with it a little bit... Perhaps raising her salary?

One more thing. I guess that you should be able to anser the secretary some things, like "yes, he's expecting me", or "Hi, sweetie, what are you doing tonight?" (xD)
And she could answer some things like... "Mr. Wang, you don't sound chinese to me..." "actually i'm from new york, my parents are chinese"


i'll stop making idiotic jokes now. The idea remains, anyway :D

I was thinking more like, if they're jailed or dead they shouldn't answer the phone (I think they still do, even if they're dead.).

Yeah, i wasn't really talking about when they're dead. I meant when they are alive.

By the way, do companies owners change over time?

Don't think so, however it would be impossible to hack some company with Voice print, if the Owner is deceased.
Maybe in that case we should make some kind of Criminal database which also has Voice information, Retinal information, and DNA information.

That way you won't always need the manager.

You don't need to talk to the real guy, just falling on his answering machine would do the job of capturing his voice. If you would fall on it's secretary, I guess you could ask to be transfered to his vocal box to leave a message (and then capture his voice) ;)


Partly Offtopic:

In latest version of Uplink (which I guess include Onlink since it's based on 1.54), dead or jailed people don't answer phone! Also dead or jailed company admins get replaced by new people.

I don't think the Internal Services of a company, would actually post a the private phone number of someone, neither would a secretary put you through a dead man's voice machine either.
Neither would she when he would be in jail, instead she'll put you through the replacement manager.

If you're gonna have secretaries, you should also be able to send the secretary to jail--this could affect various things, such as a news item: "Continuing the wave of crime perpetrated by secretaries worldwide, the secretary for Moon Corp's CEO was arrested yesterday for Industrial Espionage."

This could also affect stock prices, etc: also, for a day or so (while another secretary gets hired) the guy answers his phone in person?

I mean... how the hell is it real for the admins to answers their private phone just like that? and they never complain about the hour.
