    1st Idea: A program, that costs a good ammount of money (No idea) that has two inputs:

    1: The server you want to connect to first (Internic)
    2: The server you want to connect to at the end (what you want to hack)

    The program then goes through your list of IP's, picks servers at willy nilly (Or just goes through it in order), and "saves" the connection (or automatically connects you).

    Terribly bad Pseudocode:

    Array list = //list of all IP's the user has.
    Array HackList = //list of the bounces
    Hacklist[0] = //1st input
    Hacklist[Hacklist.size-1] = //2nd input
    for(int i = 1; i < Hacklist.size-1; i++)
    {
    Hacklist = list[random.nextInt(list.size)]; //I don't know if the RNG takes <input or <=input so.. <.<
    }

    2nd idea: I've never understood why companys like to space out their servers everywhere among the world I thought it would be neater, and make a cleaner interface on the map, if all the servers of a certain company(except Terminals, of course) were made on One square, and a little drop down (or drop up) menu came up to select servers.

    example:
    []
    Generic Company Internal Services Machine
    Generic Company Mainframe
    Generic Company LAN
    Select all

    well, theirs my creative input for the year :P

    edit:

    3rd idea: More AI Hackers. I mean, in regular uplink, you start off at rank 100 and get into the top 10 WAY too fast. I think the ranking should be harder. :?

    My Opinion:

    Idea 1 = teh awesome. That would save people who have uploaded all of InterNIC (me) a LOT of time. :D
    Idea 2... doesn't really matter that much to me. =\ I mean, in or out, I don't care.

    PS. In vanilla Uplink, you actually start at rank 26, I believe.

    An auto-bounce feature has already been suggested many times. Please search before you post.

    And why can't companies have offices/servers all over the world? It makes sense really...

    bob> hey joe! I'm going to go check up on that server, looks like another hax0r.
    joe> all right joe, see you in 15 hours.
    bob> yeah, I mean, it's SOOO much more secure if our servers are seperated by at least 1500 miles, right? I mean, the speed of light has nothing on that.
    joe> I agree bob. I think we're just that much more secure from that brillant idea.

    they are more secure. if you have some sort of natural desaster there will be backups left and yompanys do have local buros.

    the company i worked for had buros in china, us,germany, poland, japan and they had servers in every singel one. Otherwise they had to get all their data from one central server. i dont have to tell, that transfering any file anytime a user opens it across the internet is too costly and insecure.

    An auto-bounce feature would be damned awesome. Pick a target server, and watch your world map as hundreds of connections are made :)

    Having companies spread their computers all over the world makes very little sense, period. What makes more sense is to have an internal LAN (which would be physically located at their offices) that contains their ISM, Mainframe, Website(Public Access Server) Mail server, bunch of terminals and external router. Maybe a remote file backup server will be located offsite, but that's about it.

    VPN's - The company might have branches all across the world.

    The thing in Uplink is that they don't have remote branches - they have entirely remote systems. If Company A is HQ'ed in California, and they have a branch in London, then the London branch will have it's own internal LAN, mainframe, and maybe mail server.

    Having your PAS (webserver) located in France, your ISM in Mexico, your LAN router in China and your mainframe (which should be protected by a LAN) in Canada isn't a smart geolocation move. And if you think about it, companies in Uplink have 2 mainframes: The stand-alone one, and the LAN one.

    So, for the sake of realism, it would be better to locate the LAN at a specific point, and park the ISM and PAS over it, and put the mainframe inside the LAN. Which is how any company would do it, I think.

    This would take a full recode. But it's slated. For much later.
    Chances are that it'll be for <the next game> which the new storyline I'm writing is a prep for it.

    Sounds interesting...

    Now all you need is about 300+ companies :)

    And maybe a web browser. I mean, having an entire PAS for 2 phone numbers is kinda ... eh ... <fail>
