I would like it if you could buy your own LAN as (possibly) a defence system. and that you yourself are the administrator.
or you could design your own LAN in onlink and then buy it.

It's a nice idea, but there's no AI (i guess) that'll hack your computer,
Having a LAN would only be of use if it could be used as a Bounce in the list, and the more Money spend on the LAN, the longer it takes for an Active Trace to go trough.

But that's going to be a tough job to program and/or Code.

yes it was my firtst idea and it sounded pretty nice but your right about the AI and as bounce point I don't think you need it because there are enough bounce points.
    so...

i think he's meaning he wants to integrate your gateway into a lan system. can be pretty fun designing 1, but as you said the AI doesn't do anything

Creating an AI is like one of the most complex things to do, in theory tough ok ok my theory,
I don't think an Active AI is going to be Coded at least not one that's going to hack you fine-tuned LAN.

 But I like the Idea of creating a LAN and use it as an Bounce Server.

why do you need an extra bounce point, i don't get the point, there are over 1000 links in onlink

if it would take verry long for the AI to do an active trace through a LAN
it would be usefull for some people that want a very long trace time.

    and its just cool

It could also be set up to delay capture by feds. You'd be given a warning that they were in your LAN looking for you. Which would be simple enough to set up since that sort of AI is already in place for the LAN admin. It would be kind of like a more advanced version of the Motion Detector, only it would be for an attempt to access your data electronically, which is more likely to happen than them actually breaking into the room housing your gateway. Allowing you to possibly backup and transfer some of your programs to an auxiliary gateway before Nuking your system.

this i going to look like something.

if you will buy your own lan you only have a router and a main server, but new parts can also be aplied to, this points out to running your own organisation. running your organisation will at a huge part to onlink, you can do missions for yourself, sell your products, make profit on the stock market

running your own organisation must be a story line mission, after completion, you can run it, you need to buy security for it, steal research, set research, hire people to work for you, get employee's, etc.

i always tought that onlink should have a 'dark' site, with thing like a firewall lvl 15, proxy lvl 17, etc. these server are way too hard to crack, that's why you have an organisation, they can do research for you. or invent new types of hardware, like 2000gqz cpu's, and so on

sounds real nice but this would add a massive part to onlink.
    or atleast i think.
maybe if you focus more on the thing of having your own company, without all those things like a stock market, it may be possible.

I made a post quite awhile ago on my ideas for an organisation and i do really like your idea because as much as i loved uplink its extremely linear for storyline and doesn't really give you choices .ect

So yeah good idea, take a look at mine and see what you think

The organisation idea is really nice, it would add a totally new dimension to onlink. Also it would lengthen the gameplay and really set a goal for the player. Other then the current "Make money and buy new stuff" goal, as we all know how to do that by now:P

Maybe the organisation option should only be made available after the story mission so that you have something to do (other than just doing mission after mission), or maybe only if an agent reaches a certain rank. This would lessen the amount of things that a new player must learn early in the game, and reduce the size of an already huge manual (if one exists ;)).
