Post subject:  Dual Core Processors? Overclocking? Cooling?

In present time most pc's have dual core processors.
And Overclocking is King!

These can significantlly boost up performance, now i was thinking
If we have gateways that aren't good enough to crack an military computer.

Why not get software?

ID Tool = Process Xtreme

ID Description = Version 1.0

Process Xtreme is Developed by (-NAME-) it enables the software to overclock and/or enable dual core processing, wich will lead to faster performance.
However the HEAT produced is tremendous, because the processorss are clocked over their facotry defaults.
This Version Enables Slight Overclock.

ID Description = Version 1.1

This version enables better performance in the suffering of more heat produced.

ID Description = Version 1.2

This version Enables Dual Core Processing, Enabling Active support for Processor Communication.

ID Description = version 1.3

This version Now Support RAM unlocking!.

ID Cooling = Arctica Cooling 780-1

ID Description =

Arctica is a Step-in System cooler for those looking for some less heat produced by numerous things in your system.
Arctica Cooling makes used of High Velocity Fans that run at 300 km/ph This means that the sound produced into the system is significant.
However delivered is a Anti-Vibe upgrade Actively Damping the sound.
Support: Process Xtreme 1.0, Active Overclock 1.0

ID Cooling = Arctica Cooling (Liquid)

ID Description =

Arcitca Liquid cooling is the newest cooling that enables the user to have an more advanced cooling it his system, This cooler supports, Process Xtreme 1.0/1.1, Active OverClock 1.0/1.1/1.2

Maybe it's a good idea?
Now that RAM is enabled i think this is possible to code to?

Why need dual core if we have multiply processors, dual core is designed for 2 processors in 1, because 2 processors is too expensive for normal people and most motherboards need to be redesigned

Indeed, but Dual Core Multiple Processors are faster Ain't that right? :P

bollocks to this, you'll already have nano processors (and later, async processors too)

Nanos are basically a 4-in-one. Your silly dual-core is pwned. :P (speeds up to 400 GHz, then there's nanochips with hyper threading, 500GHz and up. Drivers needed for both.

Async chips will be double the price for the same speed. It will be worth it. You will see.

But don't ask why until I add them. :P

Also, be ready to rob a lot of banks. A 500GHz hyperchip is a quarter-million credits.

Yeah about banks,

IS there a way to make them harder to hack?
Because no it's like scrolling trough the park.

You can have LOADS of money if you play uplink for two days.

It takes you two days?

Not trying to brag but from starting a profile, it takes me 2-3 hours to have an excess of 1,000,000 credits. In the first hour and a half I build my rating up to get decent missions and buy all my software and hardware. Second hour and a half I hack every single bank and drain the funds.

Anyway, regarding making this harder, I say that once all the new security systems are implemented, banks should have the highest or second highest level of most of them. Government systems should have the highest or second highest of everything, apart from UplinkCorp, who have the highest levels of absolutely everything.

Perhaps making the funds transfer a little harder to perform somehow, such as making more bank transfer logs which need deleting.

You will pay for that one, heh

No, really. It's going to be a LOT harder to get even a few hundred. And you'll never know (at least not easily) which bank accounts are the fat ones.

Yeh but I guess Burningmace is a Experienced Player i was Referring to new players (obviously)

Any way Now that my Processor Idea is not an good Idea.
How about the Cooling?
Or Overclocking?

Especially for the Newer Players?
To make things easier, for example You may not have enough processing power to hack THAT particular bank,

But at this point you'll need to buy a new Processor, but overclocking the processor would cost less, but could still give you an increase, but for every Good thing there has to be a down-side.

Overclocking produces heat and so must the Player buy new Installations of Cooling.

Or just buy the better processor.

I think that overclocking should be only for those who have filled their gateway and need more power. It should be more expensive than buying a better CPU, but less expensive than buying a new gateway.

That way it prevents you from overclock-rushing the game.

The game needs to be a lot harder if you ask me. Once you get so far, the level of difficulty doesn't increase. Also, what makes me confused is that the GCD and other government servers have less security than most mainframes and even some ISMs.

Onlink should generate the security systems on a machine randomly using weighting for each machine type, so that an ISM should have security system versions within certain boundaries, so they can have Monitor, Proxy and Firewall, but at levels 1-3 only (as well as a 50/50 chance of getting a proxy or firewall on the system).
A mainframe should allow levels 2-5, but with mandatory proxy and firewall, sometimes adding one of the new security systems in Onlink.
Every time the security evolves, they can jump to their current max +1.
For example, the following would be the model for Internal Services Machine security system generation:
Monitor - Level 1 to 3
Firewall - 50% chance. Level 1-3.
Proxy - 50% chance. Level 1-3.

Then when the proxy security system gets updated, their security level for the proxy increases by 1.

If implemented correctly, this could give rise to performance related difficulty, like Max Payne uses. The better you are at the game (i.e calculated from funds, uplink rating, neuromancer rating, agent rank number), the faster security systems evolve and the quicker active and passive traces become.

Plz dont make overclocking in onlink, It would ruin complete onlink. It would make onlink more like an race-game: Install this sofware to increase performace with 20%. Install this expension to enlarge your gateway so more space for hardware is available.

ARGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG. (sorry  )
I HATE EVEN THINKING ABOUT THIS
