Uh What about elaborating the public access servers? Like maybe they give you news on the main section and then you can go to a "links to other company systems" page and then there would be advertisements and a shop page like the one in uplink internal. Each company maybe specializes in certain products(gateways, security software, hardware, utility software, etc). Design a small library of products and assign a category and several products to each company at user creation and make the values fluctuate a little, depending on the stock values in the Stock market system. Have each hack upon a system make the prices go up depending on the hack(eg an 'elite hacker required for destruction of system hack' would make the prices go up by 20% or so) and make the news of the system say something like "Our company was not hacked, here is proof that the rumors are false", etc This could maybe bring the companies to life. A player could only buy products from a certain company, so he/she would make sure to find out who the target was beforehand in the mission chat. And uplink corp shouldn't have All the products to itself... Ummm...K? |

summarizing that fatty paragraph, you want public access servers to have their own software, and you also want news things? (and knowing what company youre going to hack beforehand?) Woudlnt it be easier if you could buy all the stuff you wanted at one place? and youre news idea is kinda pointless... if only for the sake of realism, but whatever... and it doesnt really matter to know what company youre going to hack... its not gonna really make a difference (but i guess it would be nice to know) |

The idea is good But i Think it would be an awesome idea, if there were more Retailers in the game. Like that warez thingy but also Black Market so that you can obtain Software and/or hardware that is not sold by Uplink itself. Make an "UnderGround" Scene |

Sorry, but... I was just saying breath some life into the companies, increase the immersion of the game. Plus I thought it might be cool to have sw/hw prices fluctuate as you hack certain companies that produce each kind of product. Or is that really such a bad thing?
