Post subject:  Uses for Remote Gateways

I've got a really good idea for remote gateways..

Since there are so many files in this game that you can now get (with all of the new software available, and the C++ files) I've had to move some of my files onto a remote gateway. It was at this time I thought that hey, wouldn't it be cool if your remote gateways could be hacked as well?
I think that it would be interesting if an admin account could be configured for all remote gateways, configured as in setting a password, installing security systems, configuring those systems (as in setting up the vdpin puzzle itself). The admin account would have access to a special screen, a security and possibly a install software screen. This would also mean the creation of some new software as well, two apps I can think of.

Remote_Monitor
Remote_FileAccess

The monitor would do just that, monitor all connections to your remote gateway, so that way if a hack is attempted on it you will be alerted to it. The FileAccess would be very important, since the main thing I would be using remote gateways for is to store C++ files, and I still want to be able to use those in the C++ client.

Right now I like the way the remote gateways menu looks, just like a real server, but it needs alittle re-design. My remote gateways is a trinity, and from the information screen I read when I logged in to it I assume it is fully upgraded. If it is, this should be taken out. I think you should have to upgrade the major parts of the remote gateway yourself. But back to the fileserver screen, it only has a few available slots to place files in, perhaps a mutli-layer file screen would be better. You would click Access Fileserver (I'm pretty sure thats what its called) and click Group 1, or Group 2 to access particular files. If the remote gateway does become hackable from other enemy hackers I'm sure that there will be new tools to combat them, though I haven't thought about this in much detail maybe

Remote_Spike
Remote_Disconnect

would be some to think about. The remote spike would make it so the hacker would be unable to disconnect, while the remote disconnect (which should be an installable security system that you activate) would cause the hacker to disconnect immediatley, unless he had the right bypasser or something along those lines.

Perhaps some of these tools should be integrated in a new HUD system.

Other things I've thought about are, it should be easier to add pictures to the game, or remove existing ones. I'd like to see the FBI mod be integrated with Onlink, but I'm pretty sure that would be far to much work. I would really like to be able to crash the stock market system, just because I've always wanted to. I would like to see the creation of many new missions, especially this one I thought up.

Destroy a persons life forever

This mission would require you to frame a man for destroying (along with files) his companies mainframe, lan, whatever (maybe going a step furthur would be to modify the logs at his personal computer, so that way it looked like he did it, and even better, installing software on his computer to make it REALLY look like he did it)
Destroy his academic records
Hack his bank account and steal all his money (which would require you to get this info at his personal computer)
Go into the Social Security Database and change his SSN and birthdate to NULL while changing his status to Deceased
Hack into the Central Medical Database and schedule him for some really expensive operation or something

I think thats all the stuff I've thought about, but if I remember anything else I'll post it.
Thanks for reading my post, hope you liked my ideas :)

Also, I would like to donate some money to the onlink project, but unfortunatley I am 17 years old and have no credit card, so there is no way I can do this online. Is there some other way I could donate?

You can get hold of a debit card, or send the money directly to Miah.

Well, wouldn't I need his home address in order to send the money to him?

And did anyone like my ideas?

Well, sure I'd like to send some money.. I'd like to see this mod get finished. But I would also like to see my ideas put into the game, so miah, do you think that some of my ideas could be put into the mod?

It'd be really nice to have a lot of different missions.
This one would be really good, and one of the hardest.

Maybe have a military section in the GCD, which is very hard to break into, then allow you to get people assasinated and stuff. That could be one of the hardest missions.

Remote_Monitor - in the works as part of PC_Secure
Remote_FileAccess - also in the works, but currently only for computers that you *own*. I suppose I could change this eventually...
Remote_Spike - doing this for the local interface, but didn't think about the remote gateways a player can own until now. Hmm...
Remote_Disconnect - This, I can't believe I didn't think of. ¬_¬

I'd like to see the FBI mod be integrated with Onlink

Erm... look at the GCD at the time being? It's just like the FBI mod, but without the static pictures...

I would really like to be able to crash the stock market system

Maybe rob some portfolios too?

Destroy a persons life forever

Erm... no. Trust me: bad idea. At least the title. The mission itself is clever... target a company admin for it too!

Anyway, that's it for now. It's 0:35 now. Goodnight.

Well that sounds good, happy to hear you like most of my ideas..
Its 4:32 am here, so I think I might sleep, but I am going to sit down in the next few days and see if I can't think of some more stuff to put into onlink
