my first post so plz dont flame

It would be nice to have mission and e-mail placeholders just like from the mod, SimplyUplink... with the regular spam a part of onlink, the placeholders would eliminate the clutter at the bottom of the screen...

I saw in other threads spam filter being mention... placeholders would make spam alittle more bearable...

I was pondering while looking at the mass of jobs i happen to have laying around that i yet have to do.... wouldnt it be nice if ALL the emails went to a specified email inbox at the bottom left of the screen, which flashed to indicate new mail ((and still gives the sounds as par usual!))

This would clear up the some...20 jobs i have to complete, and also make things a little more...organised.

then addon-applications to allow you to create new boxes in the email inbox ((so you can move jobs of cirtain types to cirtain boxes)) and also the spam filter idea as well.

im thinking this is just an advancemnt on your placeholder idea mate, unless im not getting the details of what your saying ;)

    regards
    rabz

goto modlink download simplyuplink, run it

    start 10 missions

buy a shitload of useless upgrades ie 20ghz processors

you'll notice only two icons stacked on the right

click on each and you'll have a vertical menu of all missons or e-mails

    thats what im talking about

I wouldn't mind a little organisation with the mails.
But if you put all the spam in one folder, the spam itself becomes useless.

It is supposed to annoy you and requires you to get anti-spam software or whatever.
Don't know if that software already exists/works/is planned.

spam in RL is pretty annoying already... yet it does not suddenly appear on your desktop... you have to log-in to your e-mail client to see it.

The possibility of purchasing an upgrade to for emails was what i was considering. Think about the following ideas and give feedback if you wish

Email Client v1. - Forwards all mail to the client and informs you when mail arrives
Email Client v2. - Forwards all mail to the client, informing you when they arrive and allows multiple inbox creation (for MANUAL organisation)
Email Client v3. - Forwards all mail to the client like v2 with automatic antivirus software(up to version3?) initialised to scan new mail.
Email Client v4. - Forwards all mail to the client with automatic organisation into "Mail" and "Spam" with the antivirus software(at all versions?) initialised to scan new mail.
Email Client v5. - "inteligent" email management that recognises the type of mail received and forwards to the usual box of your choice (so missions can go to the mission box after so many moves?). antivirus software protection and maybe a warning box to pop up when virus' are found?

i didnt give this a LOT of thought, as im exhausted from a long day skating, so any thoughts or improvements on this would be welcome.

    rabz.

Good idea NOTABLE, although its input from us that the devs can look over and choose if its worthy of putting in or not.

See, these are not demands, and if they were i would expect the devs to delete them and laugh at us anyway, but if we all contribute ideas that the devs can later look at and consdier, this mod may just become revolutionary. (although im cirtain it will be within the uplink comunity anyway).

    Hope that clarifies things

    Ello, new here. :)

Anyways, when adding the new email feature, is there any way to correct the "developer (IV) oversight" where if you don't have enough memory when you receive the mail from ARC, you can't store Revelation and it's lost forever until a new agent is started? Maybe create actual file attachments? :)

It's just something that's always bugged me about Uplink.

There isn't going to be POP3, IMAP or SMTP support in Onlink.

Sounds like an interesting idea, its like the fact that you can hack into the uplink internal server and steal the agent names, and by doing this you can imprison all the hackers using the GCD and this would be an interesting way to make it seem as if someone was hired for a job that they didn't do like hacking a bank :)

Now all you have to do is convince Miah, Prophile and Burningmace

    Goooooooooooooooooooooooooood luck
