Just my 2 cents, but I'd like the game more if I could type in commands (DOS style). Targeting the command bars and moving them around doesn't feel right to me. I'd seriously love it if at least the option to type in the commands was there.

Probably from back in the day when my first computer I got for free was a hand me down 5.2" dual drive thing. No HDD, no 3.5", nothing. Hell, I don't even know what the processor was or if there was one, maybe a hamster and a wheel.

Learning to program in BASICA felt like hacking to me back then Using a list of commands to move things around and come up with logical pathways in my head while typing was great times, lol.

Anyway, just my thoughts. I hate the lack of console and having to move meters around that serve as actions.

While I don't necessarily think that a console-only UI would be the best choice, I would like if the game was playable without mouse.

Moving controls around is a bit cumbersome, but my recommended solution would be to add a right click menu. Right Clicking on a password bar gives the option to use a dictionary or cracker, and clicking on logs/files lists all the possible programs to run. File Copier would automatically copy to/from the the harddrive once targeted.

There is "console" with (only ) few commands at server in Onlink/Uplink. And if you like console GUI, you can try "Street Hacker" and "BS Hacker" or real hacking in Linux

Which would defeat the purpose of a hacking game.

Or change your MAC address.

Or use someone else's computer and don't bother covering up. (Except by wearing gloves when you mess with his keyboard and mouse!)

I was referring to the fact that it's really quite hard to browse anonymously. Not even the "private" mode really works on, well, any of the browsers. So sites designed just so can still figure out where you've been.

Yep, you're right. (Almost) every browser have unique configuration (like Java version, resolution and other user settings...). But, as you mentioned - you can still use Linux from livecd/flashdisk or Linux with r/o root and /var /home etc. in tmpfs, so every boot will be fresh (and cookies and settings will be deleted with every boot) - and when you will fake your MAC address everytime, you need to do something, say "illegal", and when you will NOT use this Linux distribution as your main OS (and in your home network, connected to your ISP), you are quite anonymous - of course, there are cameras etc. But if you mapped area before "action", you can use some "blind corner" or use Yagi ext. antenna and then you can connect from few meters nearby. And if there are ~50 clients on the AP, it is impossible to retroactively indentify the attacker

It's sad that you have to quarantine your own computer just to make it stop throwing your ID everywhere.
