I've been watching the progress of 0.2.0 with anticipation and interest, and came up with some interesting ideas, some of which should be relatively simple to implement, and other possibly much harder, depending on how Onlink works under the bonnet. So, here we go:

Basework for ideas: With the development of NPC based attacks on the player, and the C# interface, it would be nice to see a few viruses and trojans and similar out there, as well as player made. I highly suspect that this is under consideration/done.

Since there are viruses, there must be antivirus programs. Presumably, the ones at Onlink ISS are going to be the top of the range. But, other companies would also sell them. So, these ones are most likely going to be one or two revision lower.

Idea one: Since we already have a Log Modifier, how about a Filename Editor? You could upload (e.g.) Denial, or any other malicious, dud, or backdoor program to the AV company's system, delete the current AV revision, and rename Denial to the AV's filename. Logout, wait a day or so, and suddenly Denial is full of (Unknowing and unwitting) clients, due to them getting the "latest" AV and running it on their machines.

This could even be a job in order to discredit a competitor's company.

Ideas two and three depend on the complexity of the c# interface.

Idea two: If the C# interface can decompile programs as well as compile, then it would be possible to decompile programs you already have, say, a monitor bypasser.
Assemble that code as the payload of an infectious virus, and let it loose.

Idea three: Seeing as there are AV programs, something which would be awesome to try is for the player to make a virus-hunting virus, non-malicious to everything except a certain file, which it would wipe. It'd still need to be able to evade AV programs, but would be an interesting weapon.

I would rather decide for myself, whether this ideas are "interesting".

Oh, whatever the program thing is meant to be, I was on a sugar buzz when I wrote that.

I think he means the C++ compiler.
