So as i read in the lots of topics you have no money, no server and no resourses to make Onlink Multiplayer Server. That can be false, im not responsible about that phrase. Okay, leave it until miracle happens. But until it do, you can try to make LAN capable. And play via Hamachi or any other emulators. I think up to 4 lan players is easy enough for you. You made Onlink-addon. Thats amazing! And i thing adding Lan-mode won't a big problem for you.

Err, and just how would this multiplayer exactly work...? With the current gameplay engine, it's kinda hard to imagine. Probably lots of stuff should be redone, and even more new stuff should be added.

Besides, Onlink isn't that popular, so the chances someone will actually play it on LAN aren't that great...

    i will! =))))
And as i know i won't be alone, right?
This game has to.. no.. must be with multiplayer mode. At any cost. Don't you want to play Onlink with your friend, do you?

What about engine.. yes, probably that hard.

    Hard? Yes.
    Impossible? No.

Anyway, that coding it will be much easier than coding WAN-multiplayer.

Nearly everyone on these forums play Onlink, or have Onlink on their computer. That's plenty of people to play multiplayer LAN with.

Doesn't change the fact that Uplink (and then by extension Onlink) was designed to be single-player only. Rewriting a single-player game to be multiplayer compatible is no easy task.

Take a look at Darwinia for example. A single player game, of which they're developing a multiplayer version. But the multiplayer version's taken years of coding on its own.

Take some C++ classes, get a uplink devcd, and code it yourself.

when i'll know C++ (this year) as good as i need, i'll try. There is nothing to lose anyway. But if we success addin mplayer feature, i'm sure, Onlink will be the best game in its class, won't it?

I'm going to go out on a limb and say there's no possible way you could know C++ well enough in a single year to make an effective networking library, let alone turn a packetized protocol like UDP into a streaming protocol (and vice versa).

that won't be the last year when i learn C++... :/

Doesn't matter. Tell me. Are you gonna try to add m.player mode in 2008 (at least LAN)?

Either Way, when an online/lan version of Uplink/Onlink comes out, me and about 4 of my friends are going to seriously play that bad boy...
