I would like to see a way to make it much less time consuming to do multiple bounces.

Something like clicking on the server on the list automatically goes through InterNIC and then every other listed server before connecting.

For mainframes etc it would make sure it bounced through an access point at the end etc.

What do you guys think?

Honestly, it's not that hard to set up a bounce path. It takes about 10-15 minutes to set up a bounce path that'll last you the whole game, thanks to the save/load option on the worldmap. Adding something like what you're talking about would probably not be that difficult, but highly unnecessary. I'd rather see new storylines, new hardware and software, and new missions developed than more shortcuts on the user interface, especially ones where the option is already present elsewhere.

One motherf'ing word: autobouncer.

Yes, it's easy to bounce through several hundred points. But that doesn't mean that it can't be easier. I personally wouldn't mind having an autobouncer program... mainly because I've added the entire Phone Database as part of my bounce path.

how bout a script u can load ontu ur aux gateway that scans the onlink web for bounceble servers and makes a route.
script would be user editable to incl flags( always/never) and priorities
i love coding/scripting and think there should be waaay more manual coding stuff like in that other hacking game streethacker

VDPIN requires a degree of thought and skill to solve, and Onlink therefore shouldn't include an automatic breaker, because it makes the game more interesting, presenting a challenge. Setting up bounce paths, however, isn't intellectually challenging at all, and is just downright boring - I'd have to go with an automatic bouncer for that one.

evry time u hack a ( low -medium level) server a trojan should be planted for that purpose auto bounce and a simple shell

goverment servers should require manual hacking for auto bounce, but they should last a lot longer, like maybe you can link trough them 5-8 times easily whereas a auto hacked one only lasts 2 or 3 at most

once u get too a high enough level, your aux gateway should be able to change bounce paths randomly when a trace gets close ( giving user, say a extra 5 or 10 seconds to finish up)

auto bounces should somehow imho be easier to trace
a proper hacker should relay to all ur hacked servers manually and add it to auto bounce list, or upgrade/reinstall the trojan

id like too see LOADS more VDPIN type puzzles type thingies
(a simpe pacman clone springs to mind with the user eating data while the admins chase him/her)

my 2 cents

I have already made it:
1) Save bounce paths to your user profile; and
2) Able to add and remove any point on the pathlist, no matter where it is on the list.

If you're too lazy to set up a bounce path ONE TIME, then you're going to be too lazy to buy a program to do it for you.

I'm too lazy to make a bounce path that goes through all the servers listed on InterNIC and all the telephones listed on the International Telephone Database. D':

I do think an autobouncer would make it a little more genuine... In a real life situation like this, a hacker would never use exactly the same bounces each time. So I think an autobouncer would add to the 'hacking experience' if nothing else.

Also, such a thing could be coded so that you wouldn't lose your logons to certain machines so quickly if the previous bounce point is different each time...

Ooo how about a Tetris-based security system? Now that would be hated.

Or we could steal a page from BioShock's book and put in the Pipe Game.

The autobouncer doesn't have to be available immediately or through the store.

If the C++ interface comes back (or something similar at least) I see it as a perfect challenge for those who want these shortcuts.

Please no. The Pipe Game is just tedious and boring. It's almost as bad as the Tower of Hanoi (SWEET BABY JESUS I HATE THAT NAME).

(It's because I'm Vietnamese, hmkay? Saigon > Hanoi... even if I've never set foot in the country. >.>; )

(And yes, I calls Ho Chi Minh City "Saigon" because I'm southern like that.)

Heh, I was joking. I mean, right before I was talking about what minigame to put in that would piss people off.

I personally don't mind the Tower of Hanoi myself though. Poor game gets so much hate. :(

I think it's just because it's so easy and tedious. The only thing I really, really don't like about the Tower of Hanoi is the name.

PS. Also because BioWare featured it in two of their great games. (KotOR1 and Mass Effect.)
