Ok, so a new discovery... It would appear that on Windows 8, the savegame is not fixed, it's now completely broken. I cannot save. any attempts to save result in an unloadable savegame. It's a bit difficult to get a printscreen of the error, and i can't copy and paste the text because using alt-tab is completely ignored, and onlink-x86 is still the top window... But I'm going to upload debugging output in a second. (edit:) Ok, being unable to find a program (I've never been great at debugging), I'm going to launch Onlink.exe from a command prompt, so it stays open after onlink crashes (edit2:) Ok, now i can't copy/paste from the CrissCross window... Here's a screenshot (edit3:) due to a mistake in MSpaint, only part of the screenshot uploaded. This post has been recreated to upload the normal one. I apologize. I've been up for 4 days straight...

It's because you're using Windows 8. |

You'd be surprised. It's not as bad as you'd think. And it's not an issue for me. I have a multiboot. I also have WinXp, Win7, and Winxpx64... And OpenSUSE. I was reporting it so the issue would be resolved... But no, the only OS that i'm not experiencing that problem on is OpenSUSE under WINE... But most people don't realize that the base for Windows 8 is windows 7... The only things that were changed were the addition of the metro engine, the removal of the legacy Start menu, and a few kernel tweaks for metro. The only thing barring the majority of Win7 features is purely the version number.

@bioshacker001 I'm going to need the savegame to find what's wrong with it and hopefully fix the saving. Please provide it here. |

Uploaded. Also, I'm not fully sure I explained this, but: The game crashes shortly after exiting the actual game. It gets to the menu, and then immediately crashes. Any subseguent attempts to load the savegame it produces crashes onlink with that error... And it is architecture nonspecific (as in 32-bit or 64-bit are both affected)(Edit:) Also, the savegame sive was prohibitive for me to upload it, so I compressed it. I am partial to .7z as a compression format, so that is the format I used. Savegame is a little bit over a megabyte... But hey, congratulations to Mc2m on changing that from Gigabytes to Megabytes. I'm pretty sure it would be slightly harder to upload if you hadn't.) (Edit2:) Further information: compatibility mode does nothing to help. I tried every mode from windows 3.1 to windows 7, and none of them did me any goo... On the 32-bit side. Neither did Vista or 7 compatibility on 64-bit... |

I think Mc2m didn't make this clear enough: please start posting bugs in the zilla instead of cluttering this thread. |

You Legends... This new build has solved my white map problem! All maps are displaying perfectly for me now. Wouldn't you all agree this new HD defcon map looks the business?? Now if only you could add a better login/password screen... Something with a black background (for the place where you type... Or change the text in those boxes to be black...maybe??) I like to use the logon/password screen & proceed button made by Zakus called silver. Is there anyway I can add this theme (well just the parts I want... Like I did with uplink) to Onlink?? I'm unsure as to where I put the theme folder and possible structure (if different to Uplink). Sterling work so far... I tilt my hat to you all... Now all I need is to find a couple of hours to test this baby... Hopefully my wife will take the reins later for me... |

It appears that the fix was successful. A quick preliminary test of starting a profile and saving doesn't crash Onlink, so it's an improvement, to say the least. |

I'm able to accept all "trace a hacker" missions, including the ones where I trace myself. Although it's more realistic, it practically means you can't do anything else if you want to do trace missions. Should I file a bug, or was this intentional? |

Download file, and double click... Install completed. There is 5 files in onlink directory.. Data, 2 pdb files and 2 program files. When I run onlink -x86.. I can see Crisscross that shows many wthite characters, and black screen next, and it turns off with a error message that is given by window os.(Win7 32bit) This message, doesn't explain the specific reason of error.. It just says, Unknown error occurred, Operation stopped..~(My OS language is Korean..so this translation maybe not correct, but I believe that meaning is almost same..) I really want to play this awesome game... Please help me.. What is the problem.. ps. I'm Korean.. I'm not good at english....Plz give me a pardon! Add)) I captured Crisscross window, and there are so many messages.. Loading uplink options from C;\users~~ Error : Options file doesn't exist. Warning, no available video mode for width : 0, height : 0, flags : -2147483646 Saving uplink options to C;\~~~ Failed to execute 'create table' statement : 'create tabe "options" <"id" INTEGER PRIMARY KEY AUTOINCREMENT. I'm on the fence on what to do about this. In my opinion at this time, I feel it's a valid tactic to avoid passive traces in exchange for a standings hit.
