For the time being, the Onlink IRC channel is functional, but offline. Until at least a few members of the forums come forward with their accountnames, and set up a password (or have me assign one), it will remain offline. However, I have already given out the URL, but I feel this should be the OFFICIAL thread of the IRC Channel. Yay, I'm actually contributing something:) |

Ok, so an update on the IRC channel: I'm setting up a Linux-Based server in Virtualbox. I've had the environment for a while, but I've been pretty busy with a large amount of stuff, so I haven't been able to get it fully up and running, but yeah. I'm going to bring it online in about an hour, two tops. I'm just going to have to do a little research first about what server I should use. |

A notice to the admins: the newserver is multipage capable (I'm using UnrealIRCd)... For the moment, I'm going to put it as the Onlink IRC... However, if you wish for me to make it FerrousMoon specific, I'd be happy to oblige. I have plenty of bandwidth. |

Ok, the server is up and running. The URL is http://onlinkhacker.no-ip.org:6668 The server should have good uptime... However, I will need to have people let me know if there are any bugs or something needs to be changed. I have it on a windows host, but it's a simple matter to change it over to linux if i need to make modifications. (Edit:) Channels allowed are: Official, Support, Admin, Off-topic, and Beta Discussion. If anyone feels I should add more, feel free to tell me. |

Ok,so the server has been down for a bit (I didn't get the emails that the domain expired...) But now i'm back on a linux host (more RAM on my host computer. Back to FULL specs, a BEASTLY server (and my desktop. but don't get any ideas. My JOB is security testing) So i'm switching to a linux-based server again, and i'm gonna renew the domain. Everyone will be able to register themselves on the server. DO NOT use the password you use on ferrousmoon. Remember, I am the administrator of the IRC server, so you cannot guarantee that i can be trusted with that data. I will make every attempt at keeping your data safe, however. |

So, bioshacker, is that IRC server up 24/7 now then? ;D I tend to lurk now and again, but if that IRC server is up I'll have a new place to idle. =P |

It's up... Although I'm not quite sure about the domain name. Nobody seems to care about the server... |

If a domain name is the issue you can gimme a record to add, I have a domain without hosting you can abuse.. But my domain name doesn't necessarily sound too good in combination with onlink or such, bhaha. |

No, i just need to keep renewing it, and i didn't bother. And i can't, because it needs to route to the address my No-Ip DUC points to. |

I am somewhat curious, why not just use rizon or something for an IRC channel? |

BEcause this is more efficient. I can guarantee the admins 100% access, and I can diagnose the problems. Besides, it would still only cost as much as a domain name. |

Ok, an official IRC update: as everyone knows, I have not bothered bringing the IRC server up for a while, even though the server is functional. With the community site, this will be rectified, as the server will be hosted at irc.ferrousmods.com. I have not discussed this with my co-creater at ferrousmods, but i don't technically need to. I'm just going to use a subdomain to reroute to my private machine, which will be hosting the server. |
