"Commands" as in preprocessor directives, C++ keywords, functions/methods in the STL, or what?

Hell, just go to cplusplus.com and look it up.

Or get Cygwin, which is what I use for nearly all of my compiling. (The only code I've compiled in MSVS were builds of my team's game - because they're madly in love with Visual Studio's UI and such like. Personally, I prefer Crimson Editor.)

Not really? I actually really like GCC? (Also I haven't compiled anything except class assignments, and since the teacher for my CS170 class explicitly told us to grab Cygwin/GCC and compile our homeworks with it (as well as Borland and MS's command line compiler), it's not that hard?)

I think he's referring to the fact that you're using cygwin.

Oh, that? Yeah, that's annoying as fuck all, especially when it turned out that Cygwin's version of Doxygen is/was helluva out-of-date. Messed up several of my assignments.

Yes, I was referring to Cygwin. GCC is alright. But good lord, Cygwin's fork() emulation incurs such a tremendous performance penalty, even on the simplest things (like autoconf configure scripts). MinGW is better, but not by much.

I find myself using Linux and Mac OS X almost exclusively these days. Windows feels pretty foreign now. When I joined the Onlink project, I was using Windows exclusively, so I've pretty much done a 180 as far as my development environment is concerned.

The more I use Ubuntu, the more software I find that replaces Windows software, like video editing and such. Honestly, I have Windows on my laptop next to me only to test web pages in Internet Explorer.
