...Having re-read it, I think the narrator is a person who's been patched into a computer. Like, brain-in-a-jar kinda thing. It makes sense, he says all he has is his thoughts and no senses, and he talks about access to functions, and mentions an operation. Desflurane is a general anasthetic, so that fits. Physical memory, too. (RAM, anyone?) It's a guy in a box! Something to do with Cerberus' storyline? |

I thought that was obvious from the first two sentences. "I'm dead. At least, I think I am." Seems pretty obvious to me. Then again, considering that I read a lot of cyberpunk, and that this is a game about hacking, and at least one interpretation (read: Let's Play) of Uplink is that the player is actually an AI... -- Griffinhart |

Take out the second part of that sentence and that would actually be pretty cool. This whole time you think you're a guy but it's revealed you're a Dixie Flatline-esque personality upload. Your final mission is to destroy the server hosting you and all backups, finally achieving peace.And then the game deletes itself from your computer. Games as art. |
