OK, I didn't want to threadjack, so I'm preemptively splitting this.

[*]Optional pacifism. This sort of ties into the 'Conducts' above, but I figure it's worthy of mention. Let me give an example. In Deus Ex, it's possible to play through the whole game with only one kill (though a certain game glitch can allow you to finish with no kills). You knock a bunch of people out, sure. But you don't have to kill them. You're given the option of using tear gas, telescopic baton, tazer, and other such non-lethal force to deal with dangerous situations.
Who's the one you have to kill? I assume it's probably Navarre, but then don't you have to kill Gunther later? And what about Simmons? Although I suppose you could probably just run past him.

There are two kills that are supposed happen to win the game, but both can be circumvented.

Anna Nevarre is supposed to die, but the she can be tricked into opening the locked door (to which only she has the key).

Gunther is the only death in the game that must happen, but due to poor AI, he's more than willing to blow himself up for you.

And no, Simons doesn't have to die. When he shows up, you really can just run past him.

Heh, cool. Although technically, no matter what ending you pick you're probably going to kill Bob Page. Even if you pick the Helios ending he'll just starve to death in that tube I guess.

I don't know what other games you can do that with, besides maybe the Fallouts.
Fallout 2 only has one guy you have to kill, so that's basically the same as Deus Ex, only no glitches that let you get out of it.
Fallout 1, technically you could win without killing anyone directly by convincing the Master to commit suicide. But he also blows up the entire cathedral too, so indirectly you probably kill a lot of people.

The first Splinter Cell game can be beaten with only a single required kill: the President of Georgia. Other than that, every situation can be circumvented via evasion or nonlethal takedowns. I think it's the same in Chaos Theory (the only person I recall you being forced into killing is Shetland, even if you choose not to shoot him) and Double Agent (you might have to nonlethal Emile [I don't remember if you can evade him or not] and I know one of the three endings forces you to kill Moss).

Dunno about Pandora Tomorrow, as I never finished it (rental).

Now I know that telescopic baton can deal dangerous situations.
