Ahh that make sense. So in the end, Onlink will be a hacking game with the same basic ideas of Uplink but in the end completely different?

I'm just getting into Onlink again, I think the last time I played this game I was not really "mentally" ready for it and could never figure out everything in the game. This was at least 5 years ago, I think it's about time I gave this game another shot.

I want to murder every motherfucker that's ever asked me this. That's nothing against you, incidentally. It's everything against the mentality in America that seems to state that if I don't have a job, it's my fault and mine alone.
 I know!

Believe me when i say: it wasn't meant to sound so serious.
More sarcastic, really, because that is what you always get to hear. Not only in America. It took me some time to get a job too and that wasn't because I had bad marks or wasn't looking hard enough. It was just because though every company puts out work offers and also invites you to a meeting, they never are exactly serious about it unless you surprisingly proof to be some unexpected Einstein, 18 years old with two Nobel prices and 30 years of workexperience and tend to work for free because you are already so rich that you don't need payment.

Well, for the mocking about outside USA, that I sort of meant, wanting to make sure you keep a wide horizon for many Americans that I got to know are so fixated on their country only. The world is so much bigger than that country and has so much more to offer.
But relievingly that doesn't seem to be the case with you. And I do apologise for maybe having thought of such a possibility for even just one second.
I do feel kind of ashamed about that now.

As far as I know, it is planned to be discussed at a meetup at PAX. (Which I'm still not going to ;-))

Any development worth blogging? :-) Read something about the savegame (big-bang size) bug having a look taken at? Got any estimates as when the new patch will be released? Would love to start playing onlink again :-) Played Uplink the past few days but.. It's just dull now :-)

I don't particularly enjoy blogging, but the savegame bug is being worked on. It's taking a considerable quantity of work, though.

I can fully understand if blogging isn't the most favoured work task.
But please! The last update on onlink-mod.net about the Onlink Rewrite Development stats Aug 15th 2009.
Maybe at least once a year?

How are things going? How is the interface developing, which ideas for the graphics have so far been decided on and actually been realised, what are the next planned stepping stones?

Cheers

Mc2m has been working on it but from what I understand, he's in the process of exams of some sort.

Whoah, I am amazed my account here is still functioning, I've been away for I guess two years now, back in the day when Onlink was still a .mod for Uplink -- I think I was a BETA tester for a short while, before I moved off-grid.

Apperantly, Onlink is no longer going to be a modification for Uplink, but an open-source game, that is really awesome, I can take it anywhere I like with my multi-OS-geeky-ness.

How far are you guys in realising anything? (Alpha, beta, demo, final?)

Onlink was the best thing that hit the Uplink scene by a long shot, too most of your ideas weren't possible in Uplink (at least not easily implemented 'that 'year' bug is crazy!)

Anyhow, power to you guys, I'll be strolling these forums a bit more frequently now.
