Wow, ill start by saying that I'm posting this after having been up for almost 2 days straight now. So instead of sleeping (like most humans do) i found some spare time to take apart a computer that i was given recently. When i was given the computer i was told that it had some engineering software on it and that the owner really didn't just want to give it to charity but felt safe leaving said computer in my hands. Thus i assumed that it was be at least on par with my last desktop (which by the way was a piece of junk now that i think about it). When i finally open the case to see what i can use and what has to go, i discovered the ancientness of this computer. This is a Compaq Presario 4716, as near as i can tell it was commissioned in 1995 (judging by the date on the chips). i know from trying to find data on it that the computer sold for $2,000 when it came out. Here's what shocks and amazes me about the computer though, it has a CPU speed of 200 MHz a max ram of 128-256 (i couldn't find out for sure so i really don't know) and came with a 2.5 gigabyte drive. now to put this whole thing into perspective my cheap laptop that im plunking this out on has a 1.9ghz CPU, 2 gigs of ram, and came stock with a 180 gig hard drive. I was so amazed i came running just to write this. this must mean i need to get some sleep soon... Peace!

Oh right! does anyone else have fond memories of old rigs, or perhaps like me was given one of these ancient monoliths of ages past :classy: Drop a post lets find out how far computers have come!

It's with my dad right now (to my knowledge), but my first computer was a Packard Bell rig. IIRC (and I don't), the sticker on it (that stated its specs and whatnot) boasted stats roughly similar to what you've posted.

I fondly recall playing MegaRace on it.

Sorry, the images are large, but making them smaller loses a lot of the text. And I'm far too lazy to make thumbnails:

We sold our 520ST on eBay a few years ago. We do still have an ATARI TT030/8:

EDIT: You're a bitch. Also: Your first image was hotlink protected. Also: Die in a fire. Also: This took me no more than 15 seconds for both using a background application. Also: etc. -M

You... you could've uploaded to ImageShack.us. They do the thumbnail linking automatically, y'know.

    That would require... effort.

Not that much more. Copypaste image URL to imageshack, hit upload, copypaste thumbnail URL. It even comes pre-tagged for your convenience.
