So I got a new monitor for Christmas, and here is my question, I set up ATi extended desktop on my Radeon 4830, and it works great!

Only problem is whenever I start a game the second monitor turns off. Is there a way I can configure it so the monitor stays on? I wanted to be able to talk on AIM, and change my music well playing games! Does anyone know if this is possible under Windows Vista?

Fullscreen doesn't work well with dual monitors. Turn off fullscreen for your game and try it that way.

I'd rather not play in a window if that is avoidable : \

It's not avoidable unless you don't want dual monitors. Of course, you could set the resolution to around the same size as one of the monitor resolutions, run it in windowed mode, then drag it to your secondary screen. That "fakes" a fullscreen application...kinda...

I thought the only game that actually utilised two monitors ingame was Supreme Commander?

Other than that, before my pc went bang, I was using a Radeon X1900XT and dual screen and every game I played worked fine fullscreen on the one screen.

I use/used dual monitors (actually I am about to post asking other's opinions on a new one) and as far as I know, if you try to play a game in full screen, then try to do anything with any application on the other, even if it's not blacked out, the full screen game will just minimize.
