This segment is going to be more or less the video blog for Onlink development. It's going to be updated very infrequently. I hate doing these, because I tend to need to do three or four takes to get it down just so.

And yes, my voice does sound different. It is the sound of DISEASE.

In this episode, I discuss the new links screen interface, new bounce path rules, and a new LAN Tool.

One thing I forgot to mention it that I have blacklisted a few ideas. I will NEVER be coding them:

Log_Nuke
LAN_Reveal (despite presence in legacy versions)

These are just too lazy.

So, without further gabbing, I give you:

All Good Things, Episode 1:
MP4 - 37.2 MB
AVI - 34 MB
WMV - 71.9 MB

Hey Miah, here's a reaction to the highlights color changer thing: Awesome, but I think it's going to quickly become annoying because of the way one accesses it. My suggestion is that you add another button to the top of the links interface that opens up the highlights menu. Also, I don't see an "unhighlight all" button, and no way to return highlights to their default coloration.

And the LAN spike thing? I'm worried it'll make LANs too easy... but I'm thankful that you've added it. No longer will I ignore a mission because it's on a LAN!

I could do this, but right now it's actually unobtrusive. If you already have anything else open, it won't close it to open itself. Think you're right though...

The point is that you set your own default colouration. Also: The highlight all works as an unhighlight all. If the first list in your filtered list is highlighted, it'll unhighlight everything and vise versa. The most you'll be hitting the button to get what you want is twice.

This means I can finally cover the world with pink blots? Yay!

*Ahem*

Personally, I found it satisfactory when you could change between normal, highlighted (orange) and hidden. I have never had a need to highlight anything else than mission-related systems anyway. As for those systems which I need to visit regularly (which are pretty much limited to InterNIC and Uplink ISM), usually I connect to them directly from the links screen. Probably I can find some use for this new system as well.

As for the hide all button, that's useful. Since the 'hide' button is so small, I only too often accidentally connect to something when I'm trying to hide a large number of systems.

I don't have much to say on the new bouncing rules. Phones are (were) quite useless as bounce points anyway.

And the LAN Spike? Hmm, I've had pretty good luck with LANs, so far anyway. Even though I've done probably hundreds of LAN missions, I've stumbled upon only like five or so where the admin has kicked me as soon as I've connected to the main server. Sounds good though, although I'm afraid I still have to make multiple visits since I seldom have like 100 gigaquads of free space...

Not very likely in my opinion. I think the challenge is to reach the main server, and unless I'm mistaken this thing doesn't make reaching it any easier :p

EDIT: I suggest that the LAN Spike shouldn't make it completely impossible for the admin to kick you out of the system. Instead it should only make it take (a bit) longer. We are talking about an admin after all :P

Alright. I suspected that was how things were working, but I didn't see any evidence of such in the video.

Also not noticeable in the video, but has the game gotten not-sluggish when you open the World Map? I couldn't exactly tell. I'm on an Nvidia 7800 GTX (and an AMD 64 FX-57 clocking 2.8GHz), and Onlink gets really sluggish when I open the World Map (regardless of whether or not I have any links showing).

Do that and I'll make sure to disable the sounds T_T

Seriously, sounds horrible. I don't think that's something which can be done without at some point driving me insane /___\
