Lol i guess that makes sense. But it seems like it's been over 5 months since the last update.

over 5 months with a "this is what's going on" update maybe, not a game update :-p

I just remember it was unplayable due to the save system hogging up, if this would be fixed, I could be a happy Onlink camper again :-)

This sums it up nicely. The savegame feature has been historically the worst part of the game since forever. We've agreed that what it currently is cannot stand (it worked so well on non-Windows systems too...) but that the old version also cannot stand. We (and by "we" I mean "Mc2m") are working on an SQLite implementation that won't suck so incredibly hard, but we need to make it known that the original Uplink source is just terribly not up to the task without significant rewrites (which are already being made and tested). So yes, progress is happening, but it's at a soul crushingly slow pace.

And there's really nothing that can be done about it except doing it right this time and never needing to do it again.

Just seeing this post... even if it means the game is far from an alpha... revives that flame inside me, reminding me of how awsome this project is. :classy:

This, and the fact that Miah and Mc2m haven't forgotten this place makes me so happy.

And, please can we have a moral choice involving freeing an AI that then owes you favours/helps you out, or wiping it out and gaining the favour of companies and stuff?

I so badly want to work with an AI on my side. <v<

Yippie!

Wow, what a relief! THANKS!

Miah, Tycho, Mc2m and who ever else: please make it right, take as much time as you need. You get our full support, adoration and else for it. Applaus! Unfortunately not so much the financial support, as it seems ...

But please, also: just a small line once in a while to not let us hang here dead in the water.
Would very much be appreciated ;)

Hugs

It's so wonderful to hear that this project is still being worked on!!

Onlink beta is an amazing, amazing game. A more stable version would blow my mind. Thank you so much, team, for the continued hours and hours and hours of entertainment. It's nice to go from configuring real networks to relaxing and stealing millions from the banks :D
