Very interesting. It's always nice to get a peek in on the development process. I'm still interested in helping out, but I haven't been able to get a copy of the dev cd yet. I'm not sure exactly how much help I'd be though :P

Try not to get too overly excited. It's not done yet. As I mentioned to Mc2m yesterday...
Quote:
<Mc2m> "Items remaining on the internal todo list for 0.2.0: 7", That's the reason why you were online this morning (local time) ?
<Miah> Yep
<Mc2m> Well, it's strange because I stayed till 3 am to recode the transaction part + correction of the name of the shareholders...
<Miah> How's it strange?
<Mc2m> Well, I wanted to code more than usual the same day you code more
<Miah> I have different coding methods
<Miah> Generally I work on anywhere from 4 to 10 things at once, so it tends to happen that nothing is finished for a while, and then out of nowhere, 3 or 5 things are finished the same day
<Miah> I have to be in the right mode for certain areas
<Miah> For example, the <snip> lock is hell
<Miah> Let me show you...
<Miah> <difficult code block>
<Miah> Though I knew what I wanted to do for a long time, it wasn't till this morning that this method came to me
<Mc2m> Yep, I know what you mean
The lock I spoke of isn't actually hell, it follows a very basic process, though the idea is somewhat abstract. Coding an abstract idea into a purely logical syntax was the "hell" part.

Unfortunately, my code-a-lot-get-a-lot-done-at-the-same-time rule can't apply to everything here. Certain parts (e.g. individual acts of the new storyline) need to be sequential.

Also, you can expect the number 7 to inflate a lot before it goes down again. Don't panic though, if it happens, it's because I broke apart my todo list from "Act IV" to, say, "Act IV, Scene 1" to "Act IV, Scene 8."

I might also do a little from the 0.2.x section if the mood isn't right. Something like "Hardware degradation/defective" fall under this category, and while it's not going to be immediately in 0.2.0, I did pause a small time to code in the class that would allow this later. Truth be told, there's a whole lot of abstract things to do in the 0.2.x area.

More teasers (things not for 0.2.0 but will show up in 0.2.x):
Backdoor missions
NPC attacks against the player
LanLade
Multiple remote connections
Online abilities such as a "store" to download Onlink additions (custom LANs, gateways and themes, don't think "multiplayer" yet, please)
So, the extra security slots in the Unity High-Security Platform and the Trinity-1686a Gateway will finally become useful? (I'm counting the Gateway Nuke and the Wireless Transmitter as two things you wouldn't want/need to have at the same time.)

What's the point? Did you even read the post? In 0.2.x, there will be NPCs trying to hack your computer, and you'll need security to defend it, just like the monitors, proxies, etc on the NPC computers.

EDIT: Proof. In case you don't want to find it yourself.

Now that i feel like an Idiot.. hmm Interesting idea. but wouldn't it remain mostly Software side since hardware other than possible the wireless would be next to useless?

Edit: thanks for setting me straight (though its way to late for my pride)

Well, yes, it would probably be software (in the sys_ or hud_ category, if not it's own), but we were discussing the usefulness of security systems, not whether they are hardware or software.

EDIT: Now, if you meant current hardware-based security systems, then yes, with enough skill and knowledge (mostly knowledge), security systems are useless.

I believe that what i was thinking of Viaus. Anyway the thought of NCP's Attack our computers sounds like a nice new twist on the game. it would be nice to worry about something more than just preventing people from finding my ip.

Interesting. Also, I will feel 200% the worryed I felt about myself on Uplink. Will have to wait to see about that.

Y'know, if the NPC can hack your computer...

Well, personally, if I were getting paid to take down a hacker (or if I were feeling particularly malicious), and my target had Gateway Nuke hard/software loaded... :sleazy:

Judging by the fact there are 12 items (and that before it was updated there were around 60-70 items left displayed, I believe), I am guessing that the next update shown will be the release.

Don't take my word for it, though. I could be wrong.

EDIT: Welcome to the boards careverse.

Yes, but the question is when it will be shown. There are 7 things left but as Miah said the last one would take to about August. So i think there will be something like:

Items remaining on the internal todo list for 0.2.0: 1
Items remaining on the internal todo list for 0.2.x: 60
Progress on the last item for 0.2.0: 24%

Just my opinion, G'day!

That thing slated for August is in 0.2.x, not 0.2.0.

Sorry if this wasn't clear.
