I find whenever I drink coffee I have to poop in the morning this doesn't happen when I use iced tea or copious amounts of soda as my morning caffeine. |

So you don't drink? Anyways coffee's really the only addiction that I'm ever going to let have its way with me. Cheap, legal, and more or less harmless but yes addictive as hell, more addictive in fact than some illegal drugs. |

Well, alcohol's only mentally addictive as opposed to physically addictive. I don't have an addictive personality (although judging by how much I've been playing Dwarf Fortress recently that may not be true), but when it comes to physically addictive things that doesn't matter...Unless you mean water. I'm pretty addicted to that stuff. It was mostly facetious though. I do drink caffeine on occasion, but usually only when I feel I specifically need it. Like if I have to write a paper in two hours I'll have some soda to rev me up and help me focus. And I do mix caffeinated soda with alcohol sometimes, or drink them plain when at parties, but I prefer to go for the caffeine-free sodas as much as possible. And honestly most of what I drink is just plain water. But either way, I can't say I've noticed it making me poop a lot or anything. Pee, maybe. |

coffee doesnt necessarily trigger an onset of poop for me, but it certainly does make it smell 50 times worse. |

Uh, what? Alcohol withdrawal is lethal didjaknowthat? Heroin's mentally addictive; you can go cold turkey on heroin and not die from it. Alcohol, on ther other hand, can kill you if you go cold turkey after you've been a hardcore drinker. Also, repeated and continued consumption of alcohol results in the disease alcoholism.Alcohol is very physical. @Topic: No, caffeine makes me sleepy. Eating anything for "breakfast" (I use quotes because my sleeping pattern is so very, very, fucked up and I could be "breakfasting" (breaking fast?) at 2AM... or 5PM, two days later) makes me want to defecate, though. (Hence, it's a PITA for me to take medication in the morning that requires me to have eaten beforehand.) -- Griffinhart |

Just 'cause it's a disease doesn't mean it's physical. There are purely psychological diseases (or, well, "disorders" but that's just terminology).

It's not awkward until you have to go use the bathroom and you walk in on two guys in the midst of things. Woo, California public schools woo. @Rickton: Yeah, opium addiction gets pretty horrible, but the withdrawal effects won't kill ya. And there are some psychological diseases that have a physical symptom/cause (i.e., brain damage, hormone imbalances, etc.). OBTW, I learned about the "alcohol is physically addictive" thing from one of the Driving Instructors at the driver's ed class I had to take. -- Griffinhart |

True, but that doesn't mean they're not physical addictions.Quote: And there are some psychological diseases that have a physical symptom/cause (i.e., brain damage, hormone imbalances, etc.).
Oh sure, most of them do, but a few don't.Quote: OBTW, I learned about the "alcohol is physically addictive" thing from one of the Driving Instructors at the driver's ed class I had to take.
Wow, your driver's ed instructor was better informed than my Psych teacher.Absurdism is the only worldview that makes sense. |

Yeah, dude's seen a lot. Apparently he's worked as bartender at two really "notorious" places, Studio 54 (or something) and the top of Tower 1 of the WTC. Not to mention he's 50 and batshit crazy in an awesome way. -- Griffinhart |
