First of all, for those who haven't seen, we're getting back down to business. Onlink is off the table, and the Xenos recode is back in full tilt. And that's not all.

We have a number of things to be excited about, and one of those things is breathing new life into an oldie by the name of ARC (Attack, Retrieve, Capture), a now-idle game by Sierra. You can expect an update on this project soon from Tycho.

In addition, we're working on something unlike I've yet seen; however to completion, it will take some months. Suffice it to say I'm looking for a lot of people now, ranging from musicians to modelers to developers to physics majors to English majors.

I don't intend to reveal exactly what this is yet, but in the coming weeks and months, we will release screenshots that, I hope, will be obvious to everyone as to what's coming down the pike.

In the meantime, if you think you have anything to offer us, let me know.

I don't know if I have anything to offer. I can code, and that's about it. I'm good at making minimalistic, simple and modular solutions to dreadful problems (example: I minimized Rock Paper Scissors into just 2 trenaries). Never worked on big C/C++ projects though. I'm more into web applications. However I am fully able to code C/C++, I simply don't know a lot of libraries (like OpenGL or SDL) by hearth yet.

I will indeed make a news post about it soon. I can't say too much about it yet. Hopefully in a week or two, I'll have something decent enough for public announcement. I'd estimate the project is the 60-70% completion range, though we'll need to eventually hold a massive beta test which I'll be needing volunteers for later (not just as participants).

I imagine we'll probably put up a sign-up for that when the time is right if we're doing a public beta (which it seems we are).

Ack, I finally come back and to what...finding out onlink is dead and you're working on that poor sad poser ARC which can't even hold a candle for SubSpace/Infantry.
G'ah! This is a nightmare!

Hell, if you're going to throw your efforts somewhere, forget ARC junk, come join me, heh.

Onlink isn't dead.
Which is even weirder you say that because you're posting in the topic saying work has resumed on it.

I suppose I misunderstood, then.

To the best of my knowledge, which I'd admit is far from being complete, when an object has the phrase "off the table" applied to it (such as in a contract proposition) it means it has been withdrawn.
So the way I interpret this sentence is that work on onlink has ceased (what with the several other threads discussing how there's a huge hiatus in the work on and concerns if the project is worth proceeding with given some lack of attention and so on) and that in its stead they're now working on Xenos.

Well, I have err'd and I apologize for my outlash.
I really wanted to see onlink continues, especially now that I have the time to indulge in it once again.

No, the Onlink people have nothing to do with Xenos.

"Off the table" here refers to the fact that it had been tabled before. As in, put on hiatus. And now they've taken it off the table and into their hands and are working on it again.

Yeah I can see how that'd be confusing.

Off the table to the floor.

When in doubt, refer to Robert

Gravitron wins a kick in the nuts.

Seriously though, Onlink isn't dead and ARC is pretty cool.
