Uh-huh. Can we do a test?Open your graphic card options and select OpenGL options. Set Anti-aliasing to force 2x. Let me know if that helps. |

Just an update on my Mac situation. Apparently if I keep my current Pavilion laptop in good shape until college, my Dad will buy me a new laptop of my choice. So I'll stop worrying about getting one now, because I know I'm set. |

Hopefully gonna order this puppy within the week: Black Thermaltake Soprano with side window Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4GHz 1066MHz Socket 775 L2 8MB Cache 2x4MB 4GB Corsair XMS2 DDR2 800Mhz 500GB SATA2 HDD 32MB Cache ASUS SKT-775 P5N-D SLI motherboard with Intel P750i Sli Chipset Nvidia 9800 GTX+ 512mb DDR3 PCI-E. Onboard memory clocking at 2200Mhz, not sure about the core clock speed, looking around 750Mhz I think. Chose this over the 9800GT 1GB Onboard due to better clock speeds. I need a PC on the rapid and for the money (£600) this is a goddamn bargain, and whilst my Dad is offering help with the finance, i'm getting whilst the going's good. I'll have to grab me a badass soundcard in the near future though (Music Tech student and self-proclaimed audiophile) |

I wish I'd chosen Nvidia over AMD. While I love AMD's processors, their video cards seem to lack the software support I require. *cough*in Linux*cough* |

I didn't know AMD made GPUs. You obviously wanted either ATI Radeon or Nvidia GeForce. |

Fyi, AMD bought ATI, so technically, AMD makes GPUs now. |

I don't like ASUS mobos. I have one myself right now (AN8 Fatal1ty) and there's an onboard soundcard thingy that is attached to the board via a demon-possessed umbilical cord. I can't find where it ends to unjack the damn thing... but anyways, it's taking up space on the mobo. Valuable space that could be occupied by the sound card I actually use (Creative Soundblaster Audigy), so that I can free up the space it's currently occupying for a second video card (not that I cna afford one).Black Thermaltake Soprano with side window Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4GHz 1066MHz Socket 775 L2 8MB Cache 2x4MB 4GB Corsair XMS2 DDR2 800Mhz 500GB SATA2 HDD 32MB Cache ASUS SKT-775 P5N-D SLI motherboard with Intel P750i Sli Chipset Nvidia 9800 GTX+ 512mb DDR3 PCI-E. I'll have to grab me a badass soundcard in the near future though (Music Tech student and self-proclaimed audiophile) And the CPU fan's power connector is three-pin, but my new fan/heatsink (Zalman 9700, bitches!) requires a four-pin (well, it runs best with a four-pin, but works with a three-pin). I haven't actually looked at the one you're getting though, so all my comments might be invalid. -- Griffinhart PS. Oh, and get a Zalman fan. Do it. With a regular, came-with-the-CPU heatsink (plus Arctic Silver 5), my CPU got up to ~70 degrees Celsius at times. With my brand-fucking-new Zalman (again, with AS5 thermal grease)... 29. PPS. Oh yeah, and Arctic Silver 5 thermal grease. It'll run you something like $10, but it's worth it, IMO. |

Ewww, prebuilts - trusted source or not, I don't go for those. (Granted, I got my current rig half-prebuilt: I purchased it with the motherboard and power supply (plus all the fanciness that came with the motherboard) pre-installed. The rest (HDDs, vidjeocard, CPU, RAM, etc.) I did on my own.) Speaking of ancient HDDs, mine's getting up in years. I'm pretty sure it's getting close to 10... -- Griffinhart |

I'd do it on my own. However, buying those parts separately will cost more. Also, last time I built a PC myself the graphics card was faulty and took months to be replaced. My dad will not help finance me that way. Edit. I am so glad you said that. Although this guy's stuff is wayyyyy cheaper down in the lower range (The initial PC I chose clocked in at £350; A major bargain) this PC is actually gonna be better for me to buy separately. This looks like the new system: Antec 900 Gaming Case Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4 4GB Corsair DDR2 XMS2 BFG Geforce 9800GTX+ 512mb Abit IP35 Pro XE Intel P35 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard (If anyone has any comments on this mobo, I welcome them. Seriously) Samsung Dual Layer DVD/RW Samsung SpinPoint F1 1TB SATA-II 32MB Cache HDD If I get a CPU cooler it'll probably be the Arctic Cooling Freezer Pro 7, but the Antec 900 is so loaded with fans, I dunno if I'll need it. It's got 2 front 120mm fans, 1 rear 120mm fan and a top loaded 200mm fan. |
