Post subject:  Boot times?

Ah crud, accidentally hit the refresh button after writing an extremely long topic, so I'm gonna have to keep it short.

I want to speed up my boot time. I have already disabled devices in BIOS and the Device manager, disabled services I don't need, and disabled all the startup apps. My main problem is that when I boot up, the memory test runs each time. Online, it said that after enabling Quick POST, the memory test runs once and then doesn't run on boot anymore. I have Quick POST enabled, and after rebooting and shutting down and booting multiple times, it still runs.
With Quick POST disabled, the test takes almost 20 seconds or so (2GB of memory, so it takes awhile). Even with Quick POST enabled, the memory test takes 8-10 seconds to complete.

My boot time is currently averaging about 50 seconds (yeah, I stripped XP :P), and I love the performance.
Any ideas on how to disable the memory test completely?

I use the ECS KA3MVP motherboard (it was on sale, but it still runs well), and it uses Phoenix Award BIOS.

And if you can't help, then still, post your boot times here. :P
After watching dozens of youtube videos, Mac boot times range from 30-60 seconds (they are fast, but my PC is catching up :P).

EDIT: Just rebooted for another reason, but I timed it, and I bypassed the test by pressing ESC (but I don't wanna have to do that everytime! ;)) I got 39.76 seconds.

Lots of things factor into boot time.

There's nothing you can (or should) do in the BIOS to disable memory checks. They're generally so fast anyway that you don't need to worry about it.

Be sure your hard drive is nicely defragmented. If your paging file, registry, or other such system file is fragmented, grab PageDefrag.

It's wise to make sure that certain types of prefetching are enabled too (I can't remember where in the Windows registry these settings are right now).

Also, disable any Windows services you don't use. The indexing service, SSDP, UPnP, etc.

Yeah, because my original topic post was erased I had to leave out a few things because I didn't want to type it all up again.

I read online that the memory test should only run once, but anyways, I have done everything else you suggested.
Oh and I have two page files, I have one on my OS partition (it's 3096MB or around there, or 1.5x my memory). Then I have another 3GB on a seperate partition, special for that.
This is my partition layout:
(1)10GB for OS and System Utilities/Apps/etc.
(2)220GB for data and printer spool
(3)3GB for 2nd page file

I have already ran Bootvis, and that sped up my boot time a bit.
I also use Glary Utilities for most of my cleanup and optimization, it's really neat. PC Magazine has it on it's list of the best free apps.

I was also thinking of getting some more memory, I found some nice pairs on newegg: Link.
I don't think I'll go with the gold because of the CAS Latency. My current RAM's CAS Latency btw is 5, like the gold. I really like the platinum, but I am not sure what the 2T at the end of the CAS Latency for the Reaper means. I have an AMD/ATI machine (no Intel or Nvidia whatsoever), so I think it's down to the ATI version and the Platinum.

Any suggestions?

EDIT: I also was thinking of adding the /noguiboot option to my boot.ini, people say that will speed up the boot even if it is just by a tiny bit of a second.

EDIT: Oh yeah, I was also thinking of adding the /noguiboot option in my boot.ini because people say that will speed up my boot time, even by a tiny bit.

Just wondering, why 2 page files?

2 page files means more space for the storing of data. At least that's what http://tweakhound.com/ implied. Someone correct me if I am wrong.

O&O Defrag on "access mode" can cut quite a few seconds from the boot time.
