Post subject:  "Own an Ipod? Your breaking the law!"

I was looking at new topics on another forum i was apart of and i found a topic about this
Quote:
Own an iPod or other MP3 device? Well, even if you purchase you music legally as CD's you're breaking the law acording to the latest lawsuit by the music industry. They are claiming you do not have the right to copy a CD in any way in their latest ridiculous law suit. Beware, if you file share and they come after you, not olny will they tag you for the "illegal downlaods" but any music on your PC or MP3 player is now considered a violation of the law.

I can't stand the music industry. Here's the full article from the Washington Post:

Jesus. Next thing you know, the RIAA will be trying to make it illegal to play music on the radio...

AT least here in Argentina (And i guess it's the same way in the rest of the world) it's been always like that... not that anyone actually cares, but thats the law.

Hey, killing is illegal too

Oh for fuck sake, sorry about my use of the F word but this is just compleat horse crap.
if they are upset about Ipod users they not not be upset with mini Disk users & people with Cassetplayers back in the 80s>90s
I have a MD player still, it's actuly under my Moniter.
i use it some times to record CDs to MD so i can use it on my portalble player as a mix track.
but mp3 players are much better cos of the bigger data load they can handle.

Screw all record lables, the artists get money don't they.
I don't see madona living in a 2 bedroom squat in surry.
or Elton jhon begging on the street for lose change.

People are always gonna get ripped off don't blame MP3 users cos thier an easy target.

Geeeze ^__^

woops i sent 4 mp3s in a rar to my GF to show her my feelings.
dose that mean i'm going to jail?

No, it just means they're going to sue you for your "impact" on the music industry for a couple thousand dollars.

Yup, should've been a .zip.

Anyhow, I'm glad I live in Holland, we're allowed to download up to 1000 different Songs, with the exception, we do not share it.

So download all you want, but upload nothing, seems leeching, is not a bad thing after all.

Screw .rar and .zip! .7z FTW!

Or KGB... KGB is pretty awesome too.

Y'know, i wonder what the RIAA is going to do when they find out about imeem.com...

Oh firetruck. I shouldn't've said that, huh?

Screw those too. rzip and lzo FTW

rzip is an amazing algorithm, though it will need about 1,5GB of ram to compress. It's faster than 7zip normal, and has better compression than 7zip ultra.

lzo is another amazing algorithm. It compression is not good, not at all. most times not more than 50% (depends on data, in this case, big fat sql files (~2GB).) but compression and decompression is only limited by your harddrive speed, its really really really really fast (20MB/s decompression on a old Pentium 166).

Been there recently? Most songs are only 30-second "previews" now. :(

Not if you search for the right bands. Kamelot, Cradle of Filth... they've got full songs up.

Sadly, most of Chiasm's songs were cut/dropped a while back. T-T

The words "right bands" and "Cradle of Filth" should never be used in the same sentence. D:

Obviously you don't listen to my kind of music.
