Okay, I turned on G4 and heard about the PAX, I also heard Tycho's name... so yeah. I never really new about Penny Arcade until my post about Miah and Tycho's avatars. Basically all I know is that Penny Arcade has a comic and there is also a game coming out... I'm interested now, can someone tell me exactly what Penny Arcade is? P.S. I'm just curious. |

Yes I already knew it was a comic... As I already mentioned, the only thing I knew about Penny Arcade was that it was a comic and Miah and Tycho use the protagonists as avatars. I just read an article on the Wikipedia, and now I'm curious as to why Tycho just happens to have the same name as the protagonist of Penny Arcade. |

Tycho of PA fame is so named because the person whom he represents (Jerry Holkins) is/was nicknamed Tycho for his similarities to Tycho Brahe, philosopher, though this wasn't always the case. (According to the Wiki article on Holkins, "[...] the character of Tycho was not originally meant to represent Holkins [as] the two have few physical similarities; they are primarily similar in their various interests and attitudes." Tycho from these boards claims that he was nicknamed "Tycho" because he also was/is similar to Tycho Brahe (I believe he says that he was nicknamed this by family members) and says that he's carried the moniker long before Holkins. (Sorry, I can't find the source post ATM.) -- Griffinhart |
