Ok i'm horribly confused. Are all the hints in this thread directed at unlocking the cheat menu?

Edit.

Well, whilst looking for ways to get whatever it is you need for the cheat menu I stumbled across denial. That was...interesting.

Oh, and i've been trying to go somewhere I shouldn't Ferrous Moon Gateway and there's a pretty game, that I failed and locked. Is there anyway to have another go?

Also, I heard a lot of people mention "Would you like to play a game?", and I got into it and played the game...is that all there is to it?

And I take it the 'Mole' mission is unavailable currently until I can get bypasses over level 5.

Yes, and no. Basically just the monitor bypass is enough, you can use killers after you place it. Also, if you disable the monitor, b.monitor (not needed if you already know the password) and proxy you can disable the rest of the security systems from the admin menu.

Oh, VSEC? VSEC security systems are in place on all gateway servers. VSEC is just like VDPIN, but the rules of VSEC are as follows:

No more than 11 moves
Left-right edge wrapping
Top-bottom edge-wrapping

If you got locked out, wait about 20 real-time minutes and try again.

Yeah got in, nothing interesting though (I take it it's just there to crash, in order to access CMF)

After you "play" the game, check out the news server for an amusing entry (you may have to fast forward a bit to see it). I don't know if it's changed since Uplink, but it's a neat little twist :P

Reeeeeeeh.

Right, I've found Denial (By accident I must admit), Played a 'Game', I know what 'Mole' is, just can't complete it right now (Not high enough bypasses), found Introversion's IP (Dunno if it does anything) and the DarwinMonitor. I have yet to find the cheat menu.

Is there anything else to work on? Like secret missions that are Onlink exclusive? I need something to take my mind off this goddamn cheat menu.

Edit.

*REPEATEDLY STAB SELF IN FACE*

Got the cheat menu. Didn't get it before, because I didn't put the full name in. Gah.

Don't know if this was up already havn't found something especialy to this on the search.
Forgive me, if I havn't looked hard enough.

I'm kind o' stuck with that VSEC thing as well.
I did a mission where I should take a rival companys Central Main Server to rest.
That system is awfully well protected (better than some banks) and there is a Gateway.
I menaged to bypass all systems on the central mainframe and hack the voice analyser and user ID PW. But proceeding it replies: "host is not responding".

I found here, that I would have to hack the Garway first, right? I'm not sure yet, what to to on the Gateway next. But I havn't come that far yet. Hacked as far as this stupid VSEC. Guess I hadn't the bypassers on. It locked and no reads "SYSTEM SEALED V1.0" whenever I lock on to the gateway.

Is this permanent? This is since two days now and I'm almost quiet sure time passed is more than 20 minutes, be it i.r.l. or game time.

What should I do? Is this a bug and the mission lost? Or havn't I still waited long enough and the system will unlock eventually?

It should take a few ingame hours (usually 6 in 0.1.x). This was supposed to be a few ingame minutes (5-10) according to my original specification.

This time length is fixed in 0.2.x by the way.

I remember once i played this game(waiting for 2.0, ETA?), well mod(IMO), i got the cheat menu up. Thought i don't know the name anymore. Can anyone tell me it?

Edit: Scratch that. I remember now.

Also, this Denial thing, what does it to? As far as i know, you find it on a secret server(as secret as is Interversion).

BTW, why such thing for not sharing how-to for secrets(or at least no exact 101 guide)

Edit 2: Whats the other secret besides Cheats and Denial?

I posted what it does and how to use it earlier in this thread. If I don't make any mistake, Denial will occupy a much bigger place in the next Onlink version and it is quite possible that its purpose and how to use it will be explained in details for those who haven't figured out its mysteries yet.

I think it has something to do with the hacker culture valuing intellect, puzzle solving and curiosity. Sharing how-to would remove the purpose and the challenge of finding a secret, and wouldn't be fair to those who managed to find them on their own. Personally, while I don't mind not sharing the how-to, I wouldn't be against an official or unofficial list of the secrets.

Edit 2: Whats the other secret besides Cheats and Denial?
In v0.1.1, additionally to the Cheat Menu and Denial, there was also 2 special awards (like those you get for completing ARC or Arunmor missions). I haven't played v0.1.2 so I don't know if new secrets were added since the last time I played the game. Could the successful cracking of the unfinished Global Medical Database be considered like a secret?

^ About Global Medical Database: If you're talking about the current version, most likely no. The crazy security system is there to keep you out, since currently the database is empty. Nothing to see there.

EDIT: viewtopic.php?f=9&t=1574 <-- d'oh.
