It's a silly question but very funny. If you ever seen a film where Computer crime is beein commited you will always notice the lack of Mouse useage. normaly the hacks consist of a CMD window and the actor hitting the keyboard randomly. (slowing down the video you can see they normaly hit "oifahksjbfksjb fgswnfjbfksjbfksjbkj jhkaljf hjhf ohroih kfj jbin iinbdhvlkndoiuylfdnjfbflkanoeufhphjb232njrbfdoibibocb0923j3ojb9hnriufhn0n") it's rather funny. Stereo typcal Hackers in movies seem to have IQs of over 300 and typing speeds of atleast 150 WPM. they drink cola & never sleep (this can effect reaction time & memory) They never wear glasses from what i see (Perfect 20/20 vision) they arn't geeky (they may have some geeky qurks though) More then one moniter is normaly used (makes sence, easyer to have a large bounce window up ROFL!) and they tend to be able to download information instantly. (Kinda impossable even with a fat pipe connection cos you can't download faster then your targets upload speed, everyone should know this) ^___^ |

In Hackers (more like uplink hacking then real hacking) they used mouses, they typed WAY too slow, yes he drank Jolt Cola, the download window when Joey was hacking the Gibson the download bar moved very slowly. (but faster in the final hack) |

The movie hackers was ok, but they couldn't afford to be unrealsitic due to the fact it was a movie About Hackers. and at the end they downloaded the file faster cos they used torrents ^___^ (downloaded a part of the file each. also it's funny the whole file fitted on to a 1.5 floppy. (i doubt it was an LS20) |

Which I guess means mortals would probably be on 14.4 or 9600.

The funniest ones are from Mutant X. They have pointless poorly animated backgrounds and lines of pointless letters and numbers. Then they type frantically into a blank screen and get a result. Riight... I must say, the most "tech savvy" one must be 24. They at least use the technobabble correctly, even if their terminals are a little cheesy. They still don't use mice though. |

Ain't that already in the Approved ideas?Oh and French, your right, i do remeber them talking 28.8BPS. this film was shot around 94>96. but "Hackers" was rather accurate looking film. ^___^ I just love TV with the geeky guy who sits behind a desk and everyone intercomms him on thier wristwatch with full REZ HD moniter+cam. I mean it's almost as unrealistic as the dude in Kim possable. (a disney cartoon my kid watches) |

I remember reading a joke, saying is windows a virus? Quote:
No, Windows is not a virus. Here's what viruses do:
* They replicate quickly - okay, Windows does that. * Viruses use up valuable system resources, slowing down the system as they do so - okay, Windows does that. * Viruses will, from time to time, trash your hard disk - okay, Windows does that too. * Viruses are usually carried, unknown to the user, along with valuable programs and systems. Sigh... Windows does that, too. * Viruses will occasionally make the user suspect their system is too slow (see 2) and the user will buy new hardware. Yup, that's with Windows, too. Until now it seems Windows is a virus but there are fundamental differences:Viruses are well supported by their authors, are running on most systems, their program code is fast, compact and efficient and they tend to become more sophisticated as they mature. So Windows is not a virus. It's a bug. |

At least Microsoft actually came out with some decent features this time. I think every systems administrator in the world had a big grin on their face when they saw UAC and the new task manager. |

That's exactly my point. Give the lusers copies of Vista with UAC switched on, and let the admins run WinXP, Windows Server 2003 or Vista with UAC switched off. If you're really hardcore then you can sysadmin a windows network on a Linux box. If you're an idiot then you can do it on a Mac. |
