Just wondering exactly what the .uni files (example: music/bonus1.uni) are, and how they are played. Could you let me know? Thanks! |

They're 'mikmod' files. I believe WinAMP can play them.
Thanks! |

Hmm. I looked for them but couldn't find any plugins on the Winamp site--I know Winamp can play .mod files, but I just tried .uni and it wouldn't work. Could you point me in the direction of a playback plugin for Winamp if you know of any? |

Try renaming the file... Or extract the files. if you extract the sound.dat file you get a folder of all the sounds in the game except the music |

If you mean renaming it from .uni to .mod, that doesn't work. I'm not sure what you mean by extracting the files? |

Actually what you can try is us a music file converter and convert it from .uni to .mp3. You can use the LAME transcoder |

Whoa, whoa. Back up a second here. How do I use the "LAME transcoder?" If it's used from Winamp, I can't use it since a .uni doesn't play in Winamp. Otherwise, can you send me a link? |

Over the last years I countlessly tried to convert .uni files to .mp3 or a readable format (so I could finally listen at the Uplink The Mod musics without launching the game or falling on this track that loop), and everytime I failed. I tried to download 3 music players which supposedly could read .uni files to no avail, I renamed the files, I tried to use MikMod and Lame with absolutly no result. I didn't felt like converting to Linux so I could just get one of those programs to work so eventually I gave up. But if someone could get to convert those, I guess it would be a whole lot simplier to simply convert the Uplink, Uplink The Mod, Onlink and Uplink bonus CD musics to mp3 and offer them to download somewhere, rather than tell the whole process. Just an idea. |
