Thanks...

Well, unfortunately my parents couldn't find VS 2003 Pro anywhere, but fortunately, I got like $60 in cash for my b-day, and found a downloadable version of VC++ 2003 Standard (and considering Pro is basically Standard with an enhanced compiler, which you can download off Microsoft) I may convince my parents to let me buy that. : )

Thanks again

P.S. oh and prophile... do you have the DevCD? Cause if you do then how can you compile it if you don't have VS?

Yes, I do have the DevCD.

Uplink runs on more than one type of system. Microshit Visual Code Raper doesn't run on Mac OS X or Linux.

So I use gcc.

I can help you with your compiler problem:
Don't pay microshit (thank you prophile :P ) for it's software. Just download it with p2p software (like edonkey2000 or bittorrent) or get it from your provider's usenet.

If you want I can send you the torrent for VS2005 Pro. Microshit's software is mostly easy to crack, so that won't be a problem. My guess is that you will only need a simple keygen and some time of course.

Well the thing is I obtained VS last night.

We found a downloadable version of VC++ 2003 Standard, so we bought it and downloaded it.
It turned out to be VS 2003 Pro :D

I sent an e-mail to Miah with my source code problems... hopefully he'll reply later today.

Okay here is the main problem, when I try to compile irclib after updating it with WolfIRC, I get http://www.e-ringtech.com/ircerror.html

"Acquire" Microsoft Visual C++ 6.0.
Load it in.
Compile.
Play.

Okay first of all, Miah helped me out and fixed the problem (which turned out to be a couple of spaces).

Second, if I did want to get VS 6, I would be able to access the torrent but BitTorrent never downloads it.

That's because you got a torrent with no seeders. You want at least 10 seeders for it to download. It'll still take a week or two though...

Anyway, glad you got it working.

A week or 2 with 10 seeders

I have downloaded the complete prison break season (1-19) in 2 days with 9 seeders. And a complete season is a lot bigger than VS6 (more than 10 times). I remember getting my VS6 in 4,5 hours (with edonkey2000)

Depends on your seeders ;)

I mean, you could have 100 seeders with 28.8K connections, but 10 seeders with 256K connections would be just as fast.

What usually happens is that one seeder comes on with a massive upload ratio for about 30 minutes, and you get speeds in excess of 150KB/s.

For example:
Downloading Viva La Bam series 1.
For 3 weeks, speed of 0KB/s to 30KB/s (averaging about 5KB/s). Got to 72%. Yesterday, constant speed of 300KB/s for about an hour. Completed the download.

Sorry for bumping...

My dad just upgraded our speed to 6mb, and since I am running on our new 54g router, my wireless laptop gets speeds of about maybe 3mb... but on my server, it is directly connected to the router so I get 6mb/sec!!!

So how fast would it take? Or would it still depend on the seeders speeds?
