The user files are encrypted with [Encryption V.8].

Are you really thinking we're going to tell you :?

It's probably not gonna be released as (iirc) it's going to be used to secure some more sensitive stuff in a few things that aren't implemented yet.

Why do you want to edit your user file anyway?

I really just want to fool around with the values, and you know... see what happens if this is here, or if its not...

But still, what would I be able to do with sensitive information if I do happen to find it? I mean really, I am just a pre-teen, I can't do a thing.

See, I like learning about how stuff works, and acquiring the decrypter will allow me to learn more how the game works.

The "sensitive information" is called that for a reason. If we give out the decryptor, the stuff we implement later that the encryption is central to will be comprimised.

However, if you just want to know how the game works, get the Uplink DevCD.

The encryption algorithm is so secure that even the rest of the Onlink staff don't have it.

Darkknight512 - that link wasn't really anything to do with this. It's a damn good site for people to learn stuff on, but irrelevant for the moment.

One link that will help is this one. I will warn you that is not really a work in progress any more. More a work abandoned. I might come back to it one day.

Okay burningmace, I tried to use VC++ 4 embedded to open up the Uplink.dsw file, but it won't let me because it is not a CE project!

    How do you open Uplink.dsw?
