I don't think this was explained well enough, as i don't fully understand what Miah and Tycho are talking about when they explain it... Could someone please explain?

p.s.: I know that this should be in "Onlink Banter", but i'm fairly certain most people on the forum are gonna look in "General" first, so i felt it would be the most accessible place for information on the topic. I know i'm gonna get in trouble for it, and i accept it.

Well, before you had steal a file mission on simple systems then steal all files later on.
Now you have steal a file with increasing difficulty (simple file, then encrypted, etc...). Everything that can depend on the computer/mission difficulty does. The actual difficulty is the mission tier (tier 1 - steal easy file and tier 3 - steal encrypted file). For the file stealing it goes up to the tier 10 level where you encounter ACLs.

Of course some missions (like editing academic records) can't depend on computer difficulty. Those are only available at one specific tier (academic is on Tier 2).

Does that make more sense ?

Moved thread to Onlink Banter.
Each subforum has a huge square that turns red when someone makes a new post. How anyone wouldn't see that beats me. So you knew the right thing to do but didn't do it anyway.
God.
Dammit.

but general is for "anything and everything" :P

Anyway, I like the tiering but I do have to wonder why you just don't upgrade things like the academic database as time goes on. I mean, if a system gets hacked, they would prolly buy better security, no?

Yes, but it's implied that it's "anything and everything that wouldn't fit the other sub forums". Might as well not have any divisions if we're not to use them.

But that does happen. Was actually happening so quickly miah had to nerf it

But thats only happening on some systems. The academic database never gets new security. Why not have it get better security over time and then add it to the tiering system?
