sorry to ask but i was messing with the gateway prices (yes i'm cheating git i know) and i accidently overwrote the original def-gate file
could someone please post the text and i will copy what i need
or a kind soul could mail me a copy ??

Download the game again and install it from scratch if you broke it!

ok so i needed the gat def to fix the problem i created

that's true i could have reinstalled it
but i had changed the graphics in the game so much without keeping a record of the changes and i wanted to keep the way it was just with the original prices for the gateways

incidently

you do know that if you change the prices to negative values
it gives you money when you buy the gateway
on the original upllink this worked ok but with onlink it seems to have a different way of calculating it maybe it's something to do with the servers you can buy, but in onlink once the prices have been changed it's difficult to get the game back to normal again

I've never found it difficult at all. But, if you MUST do this, the best way is to simply change 1 gateway, and only add zeros to the end, and a hypen at the begining to make it negative.

In Onlink, it seems that gateways only go into negative numbers on th remote servers you can buy. The gateway upgrades seem to only accept positive numbers.

Which is a good thing.

If you need to cheat in Onlink or Uplink, then you shouldn't be playing the game. Both Uplink and Onlink need to be harder, otherwise it's boring.

I have completed the game a quite a few times now and
i only play this game when i get some time to myself and god knows there's little as it is , i want to get a head in the game and i came up
with this as a way to do it.
i play to sort the gateway out and take as many jobs as i can and try to complete them all in one day game time just for hell of it
i could have just played the original uplink and used the cheat name
and do it that way but i now want to play onlink because it better
but i found a problem trying to do it and thought this was the place to get answers

He said if you feel you need to cheat, then there's little point in playing it.

That said, any details given to really cheat are removed from these boards.
