Hello, i have been getting some denial clients recently, and after getting 50 of them, uplink ISS just got spammed with "Trace a hacker who recently broke into our systems" missions, but not 50, 73 of them! all of them except like 5 are assigned at the same time... What does that mean? I dont mind doing 73 same missions for big money (not that i would need them), but not trace a hacker ones because they get my neuro rating down...

So, anyone has idea why this?

Also i would like to ask one other thing not relevant to this, i wanted to buy ice kami, but though i have two SATA II slots which one of them is used and the other empty, it says "you can not fit this in your SATA II device in your gateway", why cant i buy it?

Try to accept them. Uplink won't allow you to take the mission if the goal is to catch yourself.

It's a nice reminder to make sure you cleaned your crap up. :3

Interestingly, from in-game logic apparently the company already knows that you're the hacker, but they don't want to give you the mission and trace yourself, but they can't report you until you're traced...

Makes a lot of sense, don't it? Especially when all the proof they seem to need is "<Name Here>."

But then if you type the name wrong, they tell you it's the wrong person... so apparently they already know who the hacker is... and they pay you to find out what they already know... uh... I'm confused now.

I'll just attribute it to "Uplink Logic."

Uplink knows you did it, not the company. Uplink is distributing the missions, after all.

Huh.

Doesn't the game say "The company has instructed us not to allow you to accept this mission" or something when you select a Trace a Hacker mission in which the target hacker is you?

Maybe I misread it. Or misunderstood it.

Personally, I think it would be totally awesome to sabotage your own trace. You could redirect it to someone else's file and simultaneously complete the ruin someone's life mission. And there's no reason for them to know it's you if you haven't been traced yet. If uplink knows the job in question is you, why not just rat them out instead of handing it off on some other poor sap?

I would guess Uplink wouldn't want their Agents to have a poor public reputation.

The same reason why when you are caught, Uplink denies any connections to you.

Actually, it's more like "Under the specifc company instructions", so one could assume that they know you were the one to hack the company that is now on your tail.
