I've been playing Uplink & Onlink since they came out, and I just started having a problem with the map. For some reason after a few re-route clicks I get some nonsense about 'you cannot connect to a phone or modem'.

    Any ideas?

You can't bounce through phones/modems. Reroute your bounces around those.

Correct. Your end point can be a phone or modem but you cannot bounce through the same.

Why? Because voice lines and some future modems doesn't have a logbank.

Okay great, that's that sorted. I dunno if this has been covered before, but are facilities like the Liquid NO2 SATA II hardware unavaliable as of yet? Are most of the hardware products in the Uplink Labs future concepts? I can't seem to get any gateway to support them.

    Cheers.

Anything from "The KRONOS Corp 80-860 Gateway" on up has at least one SATA-II slot

Oh I have the AM-CORE but it's just that I can't find the SATA II upgrade needed for the Liquid NO2 upgrade. The only SATA II upgrade i can find is the Satelite Reciever. I also cannot seem to use the qBit modems avaliable thru the research lab. I was thinkin they were never implemented since Cerberus is takin over?

EDIT: While we're at it, aside from the obvious 'Rev' are there any other aggressive programs for command line usage?

The last three items on the list in the Uplink Labs hardware store are classed as SATA-II upgrades.

You need the "q-BIT RECEIVER", which is one of the three aforementioned.

    "Programs", no.

Would you believe I had neglected to scroll down said hardware list?
I'll buy those after a very hard slap in the face.

So, aside from Revelation and Denial, are there any hidden nasties buried out there in a LAN somewhere? a yes or no will suffice :) don't wanna ruin the experience after all

    You forgot Faith.

And no. I don't think so anyway. I seem to remember writing in function for less explosive viruses but I don't know if I enabled it or left it off for a while (like the spam mail generator)
