Play nice.
And, my poor child, I don't take anything written by you personal. You are just not important enough, neither as a person nor in any way intellectual. Sorry. But let me correct you: I am NOT your friend. |

You are right. Sorry. Quote:

Beauty is only skin-deep Quote: Quote: we
Don't speak for me.Hmmm? Ups, did I? Errr, no, I think I'm fine there. Imagine I did talk of the two of us: you and me, meaning we. So if you did indeed have a different opinion on the subject than I had, I could still use a "we", because WE don't share his idea as pointed out in the sentence. Since we includes me (I hope), without me logically it is not we but you/he/she/it/they. So if you took him serious and I didn't, it's still "we don't take him serious", because only you do. So I could still speak for the two of us because I know that I at least don't ... (exclusive declaration). I wouldn't be able to do that in an affirmative declaration like "we do take you serious", since I don't know your point of view. But even so, the sentence applies on what he might think of us, so "we" would be in any case right, despite of any of us taking him serious or not. Right? But on the other hand, as I said before: "beauty is only skin-deep", I can only imagine what he might think relying on my interpretation of his text. So he might not at all have thought in the slightest of all of us the same way ... So you are right in a way. Not regarding your notion but his. So I can speak for us (you and me and others) in an negative (non affirmative) way, I can't speak for us in an affirmative way and I can't speak for him in any way... Correct would have been: "oh dear, I think he believes we take him serious" |

Explain your wording all you want - my point is still that you don't speak for me. -- Griffinhart |
