Hello there, I am a newbie and just installed Onlink.

I am having a blast, but as I am an XP user and my game started to hang up and freezie randomly, often in plain middle of me hacking a server, I was forced to disable the Autosave function in the Options menu.

But in that case, how do I save my progress? :?

    Thanks!

You save the game by quitting it normally (i.e., logging out with the X button).

(I think Alt+F4 might work too, but don't quote me on that.)

Also, you can use the button right below the quit button, pressing it will save the game. Very useful as the games bugs often, and like this you don't have to quit it to save.

    What, you never save?

I confirm that it works. That said, I do miss the challenge that one mistake to put would put an end to my career, since I can save and reload. It's a part of Uplink that I like.
    :(

    Thanks!

I'm bad like that. (Not just in Onlink, either.)

You know, in Uplink you coul actually "load" by backing up your savegame files and pasting them if you lost. And although I knew that, I never did it. If you like the challenge and the pressure, like I (and I believe most of us here) do, ALWAYS save, no matter what. If you lost, meh, it happens... :classy:

    That's known as "save scumming".

I thought save scumming was saving, doing something, and loading the save in case whatever you did had unfavorable consequences.

That counts as save scumming too.
