While I understand the logic behind using XML to save games, it does have a downside: ridiculously easy to hack. Are you ever planning on encrypting/locking the save files somehow? edit: On the note of formats, did you consider JSON? I think there's a decent filesize saving: http://jsoncpp.sourceforge.net/ |

lol yeah I changed my money once to 999999999999999, but the onlink slowed down alot and so if you put it higher than the values it wants it will kill onlink (and it took 55 seconds to load my profile (bluechill of course) and that was on a new macbook pro 15" 2.8ghz processor and 4 gb ram and nvidia geforce 9600m gt graphics card (I don't know if that graphics card had anything to do with it though)) hacking is easy but there is a downside with speed and modifying things in it. |

Yes.

Yes.I'm glad we had this talk. In all seriousness though, we're going with JSON, but for the recode, not the current codebase. XML was hell as it was. |

We should add polymorphic memory encryption, anti-memory dumps, file checks on startup, etc etc!anyways, i dont get the "from binary format to XML", performance-wise XML is about the slowest you can use - while some well-made binary format is about top performance :p |

Hell, just bundle Securerom with Onlink. "Hack the XML? We'll burn out your DVD drive!" Also,Polymorphic memory encryption reminds me of Street Hacker. |
