I haven't played Onlink in a few months. I just noticed the new build and decided to get back into it. I downloaded the latest 64bit version (0.2.0-a8-16). However, whenever I try to play I get the following error:

"The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Please see the application event log for more detail."

I can run the 32bit version without any trouble. Any ideas/guidance?

    System:
    Sony Vaio VGN-FW340J
    Intel Core 2 Duo: T6400 @ 2GHz (2CPU's)
Mobile Intel 4 Series Express Chipset Family
    4GB RAM
Windows Vista Home Premium (service pack 2)

I have exactly the same problem. I hope that any of you can help because I really want to continue playing.

Apparently a new revision has gone up (r22); try using that instead. (Run the Onlink Updater and select the appropriate .exe version; it'll update to r22.)

Alright, I have tried using r22, but still no luck. Still gives me the same error message. Maybe I should just start playing the 32bit one. It seems to work perfectly for me.

This could possibly be related to the Win6.0 architecture's CPU-core- and RAM-detection problem. Many people, in order for any drivers to work properly, have to activate in their MSCONFIG menu the manual CPU and max RAM counts, and set in the amount of CPU cores they have along with how much RAM there is. Apparently, with some specific PC configurations, x86-64 builds of Vista or Win7 have trouble correctly identifying the CPU's amount of processor cores and (sometimes) how much RAM the machine has.

If you haven't had to use this trick to make build 6002 work, then a problem identifying your Core 2 Duo might cause many x86-64 games and other 64-bit programs to fail in this manner. Drivers might act erratically too.

Just something you might want to look into if this isn't the first time a program has done this.

I updated to the latest onlink build, and also tried manually setting cores/ram as you mentioned and restarted. However, I am still getting the same error. So far, Onlink is the only program I have had trouble with, although I think it's the only 64bit program I have to try.

Perhaps you don't have the OpenMP DLLs. Can you try installing the Visual Studio 2005 SP1 x86 or x86_64 runtimes?

This fixed my problem, I can now play the 64bit version of Onlink.

Oh, heh, yeah, the VS redists would definitely help. I always forget about those, since they're among my list of "stuff that always needs to be installed right away when configuring a new system/OS". Hehe.

That also fixes my problem. But darn I was pretty sure I had already installed the VS redists... Anyway, thanks for all the help. :)

install the previous version later it installs the version beta without removing the previous
