Is it even possible to install Uplink using Windows Vista Ultimate x64 ? I tried but the setup won't pop-up, the process setup.exe starts but nothing else happens.
I noticed that on the Download section it says *32 bits only. Why won't onlink be released with x64 support ?

That's odd. The Onlink Updater ran fine for me and I'm on Vista Home Premium x64 (new laptop, yay). I even downloaded and installed Onlink x64 fine (haven't had a chance to playtest it).

Are you sure you're getting the latest version of Onlink (which is, AFAIK, v0.2.0 a7 r45) via the Onlink Updater?

ETA: That is to say, are you getting Onlink from this page? viewtopic.php?f=14&t=1806

The latest versions of Onlink do not require Uplink if I understand correctly. Try simply using the Onlink updater instead of trying to install Uplink first.

Oh! Oops, I misread every instance of "Uplink" as "Onlink" in the OP.

Yeah, no; you don't need Uplink at all. Just install Onlink via the Onlink Updater and you'll be fine.

xD Thought that Uplink was needed, just in case: Unpack setup1.cab and run the game within that folder.

BTW: are there any story/software changes in Onlink ? I'm testing the latest beta.

p.s: new gateways that can take advantage of the SATA II devices ?

There's a new storyline being implemented; part one of it is already in the game.

There's a buttload of new software.

The high-end gateways can use SATA II devices.
