So, I've figured out that I need LAN_Agent to get into the Ferrous Moon LAN. I've figured out how to get into the ACS and can get past VSEC to get to the console, but I have no clue where to go from there. I know LAN_Agent acts on a file, but not what type of file to use. Any servers that I can connect to that don't lock out program execution have absolutely nothing worthwhile (except that -one- file), and I've officially run out of ideas.

Any tips? Are you supposed to nuke the ACS? Seems like it'd have to be running to control access, which could go either way. I read something in another topic about using "help" in the console, but nothing there strikes me as new and unusual. Halp?

Have you found the Major and Minor seed for the VPN Code? If not, this is your next step. Hint: The VPN code is a security system. How do you find out what security systems have. It's staring you in the face.

Edit. You seem to be asking about both ACS and Cage at once. ACS is the thing that has a server and locks program execution. The Cage is the VPN for LANs.

You won't be using LAN_Agent in the ACS server. The ACS server is there for you to enable your use of software on the servers you need access to.

I kind of figured all of that, but I can't figure out how to make the ACS allow me program access on the other servers. I mean, I thought I had it figured out, and now I can run monitor bypass on the protected servers, but I can't run anything else, so fat lot of good that does me.

I figured out how to get the information I need to generate the key, and I'm pretty sure I know which system I have to hit to generate said key, but I can't figure out how to get ACS to play nicely and allow me to run programs other than monitor bypass. So, I guess this topic isn't so much about the VPN as it is ACS, since that's the thing that's being a thorn in my side.

One last thing...I did spot the new command in the console, and I thought I had an "Aha!" moment, but even after doing a lot of "file sharing" and using that command, even with a system restart...no dice. I can't for the life of me figure out what I'm missing here.

One way around it that i'm currently using is this. Open the ACS data banks, and there should be I think 8 programs installed. Start copying over any old files into the free space until there is 38gq left. In that 38gq, copy the programs you wish to use, go into console, open the usr directory and use validate. This should hopefully bypass the problem.

There is a way to validate programs on a per-program basis, but I haven't figured it out yet and i'm not sure if anyone has.

Oh, so I -did- get it, but there's either a bug or a "feature" that's complicating things?

Like I said, this is a workaround. It appears to work, but the 'correct' way is authorising each program, something I am currently working on. For now however, that workaround does seem to work.

If the problem is what I think it is, it might be that you just need to be in the right folder to authorise the programs...

Also, the command is run on it's own, no switches, no specific references to programs. It'll do them all one by one.

Hmmm I tried deleting the whole contents of the usr folder and just putting my own things in there and validating the usr folder in the console and pretty much all of them worked except one or two.

Plus the only folder you can validate in is the usr folder.

Edit. Bizarrely, I just added all my programs again and validated it and for some reason it worked this time, without deleting the first 60 or so Gq after the default-installed log_undeleter.

Yeah, it has to be a bug. After the first failed attempt that gave me access to nothing except for monitor bypass, I went back in, deleted everything I'd put in, filled up all but the last 38 Gq with junk programs, and it validated everything, including the junk I'd put in there. So I deleted the junk and added the rest of my programs, and it validated them too.
