Post subject:  Clues to denial

I've decided to take the liberty of posting all the clues for denial since some people are having trouble finding it, personly, im going to look in links, but this is for me to know and you to figure out, First clue, thanks to blueskirt, I've finished the first secret mission. I've also found a little program on a different server than the first secret mission. I have no idea if it's related to the second secret mission as I have yet to understand how it works.

I havent even gotten past stopping relevation yet because I suck at it, but I think i know what it means. Second hint, thanks to jaymac, You can find a program called Denial on a special Project Server

helps figure out the first clue a bit more, third clue, thanks to mihaa, Side by side in orbit...

whats side by side in a ORBIT, key word there, forth clue thanks to ion which he had to clue that he was giving a clue, which seems to be a half answer, here we go, First congrats on this wonderful mod!
I very much liked the small gimmick after shutting down several Ferrous Moon Servers (maybe the LAN mainframe is sufficient, I dont know, took them all out).
The idea with "Denial" is quite cool, but too time consuming to use it more than once.

for the 5th clue, im waiting to recieve it, if you put the picture together, we have a half answer, hopefually, griffenhart will give us a hint to the other half of the answer, logically, ill edit the post when i get a reply

Edit: Edited on oct third, 2008
I got a reply but its the same as what firstwarrior posted below, now im looking for a hint of when, or if its always there, also if anyone has a good easy way to beat revelation please post, im totally stuck on it.

When life gives you lemons, make a battery and power up your laptop!

How about some details? I suppose I should tell people what to expect next version.

First, as mentioned in the progress log, the computers affected by Denial aren't going to drop their effectiveness all the time. That's good, because denial can otherwise be a cruel mistress.

Denial is only as effective as the number of clients that you have. The number you need is determined by a formula that checks security systems surrounding a given target. The heavier the countermeasures, the larger the number.

Of course, the funny thing is that the answer to the "where" of denial is staring you in the face every time you load the site. Hehe.

So, does "heavier countermeasures" mean more security systems, higher versions of existing security systems or both? (Probably both, just curious)

Strictly speaking, "higher versions of existing security systems" would be affected by "more security systems."

This is the case here. There is also something else that I consider a security measure, but more don't really consider it to be one, since you don't need a program to get past it. This particular piece halves your effectiveness.

I have absolutely no idea what it is you're talking about, especially regarding "clues" or secret missions (other than the secret missions that came with vanilla Uplink). All I did was crack a certain server (actually, I cracked several servers that were all owned by the same company, because I was curious. I don't remember which server had Denial on it).

Anyone want to give a few more direct hints?

There's a problem with secret missions and secret locations. It's hard to find them without some serious help. and after looking through here, no one is giving hints. I don't even know about these secret missions you talk about in the original uplink, other than the one where you can sell the uplink agent database. Which, given the security levels of uplink in this version, I'm betting that mission is pretty impossible.

A hint: The Uplink ISS will always have the highest possible level of security.

Also, if you can't find the vanilla Uplink secret missions, I highly suggest using the Ultimate Uplink Guide (guide.modlink.net).

The nice little bug about the uplink ISS always increasing its security above crackable level makes it impossible to do the mole mission...

Actually, if that happens, play the game for a while. Eventually all security bypass/disablers will catch up to the highest level.

And really, all you need is Monitor_Bypass, the entire suite of _Killer programs, and a whole lotta time.

Problem is...the monitor bypass doesn't work...all the security is level 20+, and it's impossible to use the killers in any timeframe before the trace occurs. I've tried it once already :(

Besides...looks like Onlink corrupted my save again (probably vista...), so now I have to start over again...even the backup won't work :(

Like I said, play for a long while (as in the same session; don't quit or anything) and the bypassers will catch up to the security.

*cracks knuckles*

Well...now that I have a new HDD that will hopefully no longer result in corrupted games...might as well take another shot at it :)

Also: I /facepalm'd after reading the clues again...it was so obvious

If you're looking for denial, the first post on this topic just goes way too in-depth. I've no idea what the hell most of those clues mean.

The only one you need is finding it on a special project server, and what FinalWarrior said about being curious.

I've done the 'Wargames' mission. The clue is 'Would you like to play a game?'

That is literally all the information you require.

They're secrets. They're supposed to be fun things you stumble upon. It's not like you need to do them. In fact, I'd say that going out looking for them kind of defeats the purpose.
