Level 20 security?

Post subject:  Level 20 security?
So yeah...I completed the story part of the game, so I thought...why not attempt the mole mission. However, to my surprise...all the security in the uplink internal services machine are level 15+. I attempted to use the killers on it (starting with the B. Monitor so I could crack the password at the same time), but they take way too long and I would get caught before it completes.

Anyone know why? Or is this on purpose to keep people from doing that mission? :shock:

This is a known issue and I am working on it. Suffice is to say, for the moment, that Uplink provides something of a litmus test. Whenever the security around the world adapts to a higher level, Uplink's ISM will also gain that level.

Thing it, the adaptive security routines are far too aggressive, the prices for bypassers etc are too high, and the data for the higher version bypassers don't get saved to the agent profile.

I hope to have it fixed for the 0.2.0 release.

Why not cap the maximum level the security systems can get to 12 or 15? Adaptive security systems create a good obstacles but they push the game experience too much toward mindless money grinding IMHO. It may be realist for them to always improve but after a while it's certainly not fun.

I'm not doing a cap. I am, however, placing a time limit. I find it rather impossible to have a company release level 6 and then level 7 the next day.

I'm considering 2 weeks to a month. I might just make it a normal number with an average of one release per month. Plus or minus ten days. Ish.
