I just don't understand, everytime I play I get caught about 20-30 minutes into the game! I'm doing all I'm supposed to do.
    I have log deleter v4
And every hack I always delete the discriminating logs. In the place hacked and internic.
Also the highest hack level I aver hacked was 3, once!

Once I did let a trace get to 40s before disconnecting, but that should get me caught as long as I delete logs at internic.

Is there something I'm not doing?

Probably a dumb question, but are you deleting ALL logs at InterNIC? If you are, leave the latest "connection established (from 127.0.0.1)" log, because a disconnection log without a connection log seems suspicious.

And well, if you aren't deleting that particular log, the only thing I can think of is you're doing something wrong when/if you're stealing money from a bank account. I think someone said a sure strategy to do that is to create a new bank account, transfer the money there, delete the statement log from the account where you stole the money from, transfer the money from your new account to your old one, and then close the new account.

Also, I'm not completely sure but I think active and passive trace are two completely different things (= If you disconnect when the active trace is almost complete, it doesn't mean you will be immediattely caught by the passive trace). Besides, usually passive trace is so slow you should have no trouble with deleting the logs from InterNIC on time.

No I make sure not to touch the connection logs. Also I haven't gone on any bank jobs either. the only missions that I've done are level 2-3 stuff, so how could it be finding me so easily when I make sure to take care of my foot prints?

Don't forget to bounce the money to another account (after you've stolen it and moved it to your account) to stop yourself from getting caught.

I can assist a little bit in this manner. It's all about the disavowment text.

If it says very specifically that you were disavows for "attempting to defraud" someone, then rookie is right. The banks do a semi-frequent audit of the system. If you have 900,000c but the logs can only account for 9,000c, you're going to get nailed.

Wait, then why am I not getting caught? I always transfer the money directly to my Uplink account and delete the statement logs on both ends, and that's it.

EDIT: Ah, I see. Makes sense

the Uplink bank is a bit different. Consider it the secret swiss bank of the hacking era.

I would find it rather against the spirit of Uplink to be prosecuting their own anyway. Especially when they're not the ones losing the money.
